OT: Coach K dispenses wisdom to Oregon player
If you watched the tourney games last night you may be aware that this went down:

Was shooting a three-pointer with nine seconds left (and the outcome not in doubt) poor form? Probably. But, if I'm Coach K I leave any etiquette lessons to the Oregon coach.
Much Apu about nothing

Classic annoying Duke white guy

wasn't even bad form, there was 2 on the shot clock and a 7 second differential. The 3 he shot was from Spike range and was about the worst shot they could have got on that possession. Nobody just lets the shot clock run out in that situation. Grayson Allen is a punk and Coach K is all high and mighty. The Oregon player did nothing wrong, at all.

was earlier in the game. He hit a 3 and then did a Stauskus-esque turn toward the Duke bench to let them know about it. Again, not at all a big deal to anybody except Coach K.
I think he actually tripped while doing that, which made it kind of funny. Not a big deal either way.
He did celebrate a bit after his last three, but they were about to win the game. Who cares? I agree with the thought that he jacked up a really long three because the shot clock was going to expire. Not even a misdemeanor in the world of bad sportsmanship.
wasn't even a civil ordinance violation. What was he supposed to do? Miss the shot intentionally? It was nothing at all. K gonna K.

I think this is right. Duke is so entitiled at this point that it requires an instruction manual to figure out how not to offend them.
Come to think of it, the results are similar to Dantonio's near-constant feelings of aggrievment, even if the reasons Duke/Sparty are offended are completely different.

was my take, too. The guy jacks one (as instructed by his coach) at the end of the clock and it goes in, of course he's tickled. Is throwing up your arms to celebrate now illegal, too? And the guy was all totally innocent and affectionate with Allen afterward--as if there were something wrong with that? Allen's every right not to feel huggy right then, but that's not on Brooks.
Brooks emerging as a serious star, btw.

You can see in the video of the hand shake line that there is a lengthy talk between Coach K and Brooks, with Brooks saying, "I'm Sorry." Coach K is definitely the one who is lying.
Coach K talked to allen the same way he talked to laettner after he stomped on a kentucky player's groin. Coach K is a piece of shit.
There was like a 6 second differential between the shot clock and game clock. What else was he supposed to do with the ball?

Dillon Brooks could go for three and did.
I agree, the kid did nothing wrong. And I an *not* an Oregon fan.
Coach K has problems with losing graciously.
Guess Allen should have tripped him on the way to the rack. That may have been more effective than their so-called defense.
I guess the hug was a little much, but it looked to me that the kid was just trying to congratulate him on a well fought game. I think we have enough evidence to declare Grayson Allen as a bad human being so let's just roll with that.

didnt see it - but why a hug, a handshake doesnt work?
Nice! Calls for a drop mic gif....
is that Coach K denies saying anything to him.
There should be a celebration each year when Izzo and Coach K are booted from the tourney; two of the whiniest winning coaches I've ever seen.

My take is he wasn't expecting Brooks to tell the media what he said so he was caught off guard. He then try to lie about it and say he didn't say it. Anyone who watched him say it live in the post-game could tell he was lying and squirming as well as getting a holier than thou attitude about it.
He went for three....because he couldn't go for four.

for those wondering

even when alive.
It might just be me, but there are teams out there where it really doesn't bother me if - when they are losing - other teams choose to pile on, whether that was the intent or not. Duke basketball is one of those teams. I get that some people - Krzyzewski included apparently - may think that it is poor form and I get that presser politics tend to dictate making nice, but it was fun to watch Brooks to put that shot down. If you ask me though, cosidering the time situation, I don't know why you wouldn't have attempted a shot there.

Just a little karma from Laettner's douchebaggery many years ago. They deserve all the disrespekt they get from any and all sources.
For a fan base that loves the Fab Five--hahlolz what hypocrisy.
can lick a sweaty pair. When his teams start to win or lose with class, he can start pretending like he gives half a fuck about sportsmanship.
