OT: CMU Chippewas

Submitted by SFBlue on
Pretty stoked to see the Chips crack the top 25, growing up going to games at Kelly-Shorts stadium. I wanted them to get a shot at someone like Notre Dame/UCLA, or better yet, avenge our loss to Sparty (for the second time this year), rather than play Troy (who looks to be solid, but just doesn't have the same cachet). Rooting for them looks to be the only respectable option this bowl season.

Central dominates the MAC, gets ranked for the first time in program history, and their reward is to play Troy in an empty stadium in a meaningless game. This game does not benefit either Troy or Central outside of the modest paycheck they'll get for playing in it. Its a similar situation as Boise vs. TCU, although obviously with lower stakes.

I could not be more pissed of the fact that they are playing in the GMAC bowl. I understand its Detroit, in December and you've been there for the past 3 years but give me a break, play in a defacto home game with a large crowd or go to Alabama and have 200 students make the trip. The AD seriously thinks that CMU football is the cats ass and that everyone loves it and will travel to where ever to watch them play. As a native of Mt. P and an Alum, 90% of the people here will get off the bandwagon as soon as they start loosing again. Disclaimer: Hopefully they continue to win but just making my point.

Please. Being a CMU undergrad I for one do not want to see the Chips play again in Detroit. Enough already! Any bowl game but here. Let the State of Michigan Football Champions attend a slightly more meaningful game than the Little Ceasars Bowl or whatever it's called these days. Anyways the GMAC Bowl has a tradition of a high scoring game and these teams definitely have the ability to keep this tradition going.
