Did a quick google search and there are message boards all over the place about it. I couldnt find anything official but obviously many people have noticed it.
OT: Chris Johnson's Twitch?
Yeah, I found out the same thing, which makes me wonder if it's developing or getting worse. I'll admit, I know very little about Tourette's...
He does not have Tourette's. ESPN E-60 did a special on him a few weeks back and Michael Smith asked him about the twitch. He was checked for Tourette's, and was not diagnosed. He said it was just a nervous twitch he developed in either high school or college, I can't remember I could not pull up the E-60 video at work, but I believe it is on this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_aIX7j0d6o
Apparently the Tennessee fan base has nicknamed him "Twitch." Either that or Nick Bishop is a big dick: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/188218-10-questions-with-tennessee-titans-rb-chris-twitch-johnson
I turned that game on for about 20 seconds and noticed that too. I think it's more "O Let Do It" than Tourettes.
I don't think he has tourette's becuase that requires both motor and vocal tics and I feel like if he had a vocal tic (shouting random stuff like you see on tv/movies) it would be more widely known. Could be a chronic tic disorder but definitely looks like he has a tic of some sort. What sucks for him is that a lot of the meds used for tics and tourettes (if he has either) would significantly mess with his playing ability (lots of side effects that are fine for most, not for professional atheletes who need to be at their best).
Note: this is all speculation based on limited evidence of course.
Only 1-10% of people with TS shout stuff. For most people, vocal tics manifest themselves in the form of random sounds.
TS is developed during adolescense and either stays the same or gets better as one gets older (For example goalie Tim Howard, whose Tourettes is now only noticable when a reporter asks him about it). Therefore, it's impossible for an adult such as Chris Johnson to be "developing" TS, but it is very likely that he has a very mild form that went undiagnosed.
hasn't he seen the south park episode? (Yes I learn most things I know from South Park and The Simpsons)
(This is the only one I could find)
EDIT: never mind language was a little rough!
Play at your own risk etc. I also thought about putting up that one but it's mostly Cartman bs'ing tourettes or the "PISS IN MY ASS" guy which is just funny.
I understand the majority of people don't shout stuff, I meant that mainly to say that if he had a vocal tic of any sort I think it would be more noticable and therefore more likely we would have heard about it.
I don't know if the second part of your reply was meant for me or not but I certainly never said he was "developing" tourettes and agree it would be something he had for a while.
Its funny, I have always wondered if he had TS. I am from Nashville area and follow the Titans very closely, and I have never heard it mentioned by local sports media. I have noticed that the tendency doesn't change whether he is in the game or on the sideline. I'm sure if it is something that went undiagnosed as a child, he can afford all the help he needs now!
I found this article on Rivals about Chris Johnson.
Some of the things said about him are kind of funny in retrospect. He was a 2-star recruit and had a couple offers from South Florida and East Carolina. Apparently some teams were trying to convince him to play WR or DB, but he wanted a chance to play RB.
I bet there are plenty of schools who wish they would have given him a chance to play RB now...
... a good point to remember when we complain about UM getting a 3 star or losing a 5 star.
can cause muscle twitching
a pain killer doing it. If you've ever known people on powerful prescriptions, they cause this sort of thing all the time. Especially narcotics.
