This makes it easier to pretend I'm still living in the mid nineties and Rudy T is coaching the Rockets.

Back to back, baby.  Clutch City.

It's almost disrespectful to the Zo, Grandma-ma, and Mugsy days. They were actually a good/fun team. This generation of "Hornets" is turrrrible.

I mean, this aint the Hornets of our childhood, but they did make the playoffs this year behind some stellar defensive metrics. Their young nucleous is finally coming along, and they appear to have a coach they like finally.

EDIT. Meant as reply to Rob.

I think I still have some in a box of junk my mother delivered shortly after we bought our house. Charlotte Hornets were my team the last time I cared about the NBA.

How could a team with a roster that loaded struggle to make the playoffs?

I want to know what's going down with the franchise records and all of that jazz (you know I did that on purpose). I haven't paid any attention to what the NBA's stance is, but are the Hornets going to keep all of the Hornets' records, or did they travel south to New Orleans with the Hornets/Pelicans, while the new Hornets have the Bobcats' history?

Regardless, it's kind of an interesting discussion. Does a team's records belong to a franchise or a city. For example, if a new Seattle Sonics franchise were formed tomorrow, would they have all of Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp's records? Would they retire their jerseys, and hang the 1979 championship banner, or does all of that stuff now belong to the OKC Thunder?

I said last year when the Pistons didn't take Burke that I was done with this and I'd wait a year and become a fan of the new Hornets.

Of course I didn't know they'd make the playoffs this year, but hey...thanks to the Pistons, now I can say I was a fan when they started the 2nd time around and they were a lottery team!

Now all they have to do is draft Stauskas and Robinson III. Mr. Jordan, don't mess this up for me.

I'm breaking out the old 41 Glen Rice jersey with this news.  Glen's absolute prime of his career was at Charlotte.  All star MVP 97, he was just money in the bank that year.
