He is going from Louisville, KY (louie-ville) to Louisville, OH (lewis-ville).

I don't know why he'd go there. The locals play banjos and talk about people's purty mouths.

According to a shirt sold at the visitor's center downtown there are as many as 8 acceptable pronounciations. Included are all that have been mentioned by both of you. Personally, I say "Louie-ville" when I'm home in the North, and "LOL-ville" when I'm here because this place is so backwords it makes me laugh out loud

I was actually about to proactively change the title, although if Charlie Strong had done what the original title suggested and stayed at Louisville, it would be perhaps one of the best troll jobs in the last decade or so. In any case, it is a good hire for Texas - great recruiter and someone who can definitely win and win often. The Sporting News has a good quote from Strong on the move:

"I'm excited and my family is excited to have the chance to lead one of the premier football programs in the country," Strong said in a statement released through Texas. "Texas is one of those places that is always on your radar and a program anyone would dream of being a part of because you have a chance to compete on a national level every year. It's special because it has such great history, pride, tradition and passion for football."

Has he shown any aptitude in recruiting outside of the southeast (or perhaps more importantly, in the southwest)? Important, considering that there are exactly three players on Texas' current roster from east of the Mississippi. Have to win recruiting in Texas to win at Texas and I certainly have questions about his ability to do that, given the upswing of both Baylor and A&M.

I'm pretty sure Houston is both in Texas and west of the Mississippi, but aside from that, the problem isn't so much getting good players from outside Texas as it is what the alumni, fanbase, high school coaches, etc. will have to say if there is a dip in recruiting Texas, especially if the team isn't meeting the somewhat unrealistic expectations Texas fans have for wins.

I can't imagine loyal alumni ever degrading a promising new coach from a different culture and smaller conference simply because he prefers to recruit heavily in Florida rather than grab every in state recruit regardless of their talent or fit for his system.

That would never happen.

Hopefully, Louisville does the right thing and takes Pat off our schedule forever more. This is a good job for him with ACC conference ties and a place he might be able to school his craft for some years.

I still see him back at MSU someday when MD retires.

For one, I think it would be a good move for Narduzzi and a great hire for UL.

But two, I want to be Dantonio. I want to even the record vs. Michigan and then destroy him and make him the next John Cooper.

Sure MSU fans will have the "Narduzzi years," but the man I want to beat is Dantonio, it would still be HIS team.

That said, I'd be happy to see Narduzzi leave.

Dantonio's DB coaching secrets, as far as I can tell:

Have your DBs play very physical and leave them in single coverage.  Figure that you have all of these things working for you:

1. The physical coverage will slow their WRs from getting into their routes.

2. Your extra guys in the box should reduce the time the QB has to get the ball out.

3. College QBs - and especially Big Ten QBs - aren't very good passers, so they probably won't take full advantage of the single coverage.

4. Officials don't like calling pass interference, so if you're a little too physical, that's okay, since you'll get away with it most of the time.

Honestly, I think it's a pretty brilliant strategy for the Big Ten.  I wish we did more of that.

I care about winning and that includes little bro. Dantonio is a jerk, but for me it's about beating Staee and everyone on our schedule. If he left and we rolled them the next ten I'd be estatic.

Isn't going anywhere in my opinion, which is fine by me. There is no reason why we shouldn't beat them, we just need to get better coaching and results from our players, yeah that's right, we need to execute better. In all seriousness, I don't think Narduzzi really wants another job besides MSU.

Dantonio will never be Cooper in the eyes of Spartan fans.  He's had Michigan's number for the better part of a decade, won/shared 2 B1G titles and won a Rose Bowl.  It would take an epic losing streak to Michigan to torch the fan love for that guy at this point.  I still expect that, ultimately, Michigan will push his career record against them close to or under .500, but Spartan expectations have so dramatically been exceeded at this point, nobody would care about that.

Charlie Strong is not a very good coach. I predict that they'll be a middling team for his entire tenure.

Kind of have to agree. He had gobs of talent (for Louisville) and really didn't do what he could (arguably should ) have. He sure can recruit FLA though which is also odd for a Texas hire. He could be successful though if he can get a few FLA 5-stars and all of the talent Texas gets just being Texas.

Riiight, he only owned Louisville's main rival in Kentucky, stomped the U with a QB from their backyard who may well end up as the #1 pick in the NFL Draft, kicked Florida's ass in a BCS win bringing his record vs the SEC to 4-1, won 12 games this year, and saved a once resurging program that was headed back to the shit bowl before he came to town. And as you noted, recruited Florida great. He should have done more.
