OT: Champions League Final

Submitted by Dylan on
I know others must be taking a break from weekend activities to catch the action. Hala Madrid!

I almost always cheer for the team with the smallest payroll, since so many champions simply win by spending more. I love me some Zidane, but I want to see Atletico win.

Never, it would ruin the fluid beauty of soccer, no breaks, no commercials. Play a half, short intermission, then another.

I remember when we used to boo the refs at M Stadium during TV timeouts. We now expect American football games to run 3.5-4 hours, longer if it goes to OT. They're ruined the flow of the game.

Only w/a DVR is the game watchable. It's really too bad, but we'll never go back.

make it a more challenging shot - I hate that it basically all relies on someone massively choking.

The end is always so depressing becuase it's so rarely that someone did something great - much more often it's that someone did something terrible.

Would rather see it decided on someone displaying extraordinary skill instead of the converse.

I get that penalties are a mental crucible, but still, looking at that game where I had no rooting interest, I hated to see it end that way.

Great game! I was worried about Atletico' ability to score against Real before this game and for the most part that was correct. Bad hesitation by the young player letting his mark get the goal in the 79th minute. CR7 sealing it was on point and somewhat predictable after he wasn't one of the first three to shoot.

the field to 24 teams for this years tournament so that helped.  But they ended up runner-up in their group so they may have still made a 16 team field.

For Qualifying they happen to be in the same group with a really down Denmark squad along with terrible Serbia and Armenia.  They finished runner-up to Portugal and in fact won at Portugal to open qualifying.

Just surprising to me -- good on them.  I'm excited that Northern Ireland, Ireland and Wales made it; would've been nice if the jocks had made it too.  Wales/England should be a fun match.  I presume Group E (Belgium, Italy, Ireland and Sweden) is the Group of Death, or maybe Group D (Croatia, Czech, Spain, Turkey)...
