OT: Carrollfreude?
Anyone else feel like this is karma for Pete Carroll? I can't help but still be bitter about the last couple of Rose Bowls we lost to him and he royally screwed the Trojans on the way out.
Most are calling the goal line play the worst call in the history of football, which might be hyperbole, but I can't say I feel bad for him.
Edit: Not Hyperbole. It was a horrendous call.

It was a pretty bad call.

enjoying the schermanfreude as well
February 1st, 2015 at 11:08 PM ^
What exactly do you dislike about Richard Sherman?
February 1st, 2015 at 11:19 PM ^
For one he made his name by being a jerk. Nobody knew who he was until that obnoxious interview. His bad behavior made him a star.
February 1st, 2015 at 11:23 PM ^
He made his name by being the best in the game at his position.
February 1st, 2015 at 11:29 PM ^
I had no idea who he was until his outburst at the end of the NFC title game last year. It was one of the most unsportsmanlike displays I have ever seen.
February 2nd, 2015 at 7:27 AM ^
He's a real cocky SOB when he's winning. Tucked his tail last night. Not surprising coming from Pete Carroll's classless Seahawks. I can't wait for them to become irrelvant again so all the hippies out in Seattle can jump off the bandwagon and get back to not caring about sports. "12th" man my ass. When you say Hasselbeck to someone from Seattle, they probably think "Elizabeth" first. Probably don't know who Shaun Alexander is since they've only been "fans" for three years.
February 2nd, 2015 at 9:01 AM ^
To be fair to Seattle hippies, they really like their soccer team.
February 2nd, 2015 at 9:55 AM ^
We are talking about the greatest sport ever created in this thread, played by the world's best athletes. Football > Futbol every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
February 2nd, 2015 at 11:09 AM ^
A poor winner!
February 2nd, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
If it were Jabrill Peppers against Ohio State instead of Sherman/49ers you'd prolly love it.
February 1st, 2015 at 11:31 PM ^
Ever heard of Patrick Peterson, Brent grimes, darrele revis, or Joe Haden ? All have an argument to be made, personal I'll go with patrick Peterson.
February 2nd, 2015 at 1:42 AM ^
Earl Thomas is better than Sherman.
February 2nd, 2015 at 2:05 AM ^
Revis has a claim, and has done it for longer. Peterson isn't even close. Haden is very good but not as good as Sherman or Revis either.
February 2nd, 2015 at 9:15 AM ^
Peterson is probably a more gifted athlete. But as a corner it's not close right now. Hate him all you want. But Sherman is the best.
I think the dude is a dick...
But nobody plays his position better then he does.
February 2nd, 2015 at 12:13 PM ^
Peterson is probably the best athlete on your list, but he's not even close to being the best CB.
February 2nd, 2015 at 7:58 AM ^
He commits PI on every play and dares the ref to be "that guy" who calls 50 PI's on one player. He's good, but he is allowed to play the football equivalent of "Duke Defense."
February 2nd, 2015 at 8:49 AM ^
Do you actually watch the games, or are you just buying into a narrative created by people who don't like Sherman? Brady only targeted him one time in the entire game tonight, there's a reason for that.

This guy has a clue.
February 2nd, 2015 at 9:58 AM ^
Brady went at him time and time again if his receiver was open. In fact, on the final Patriot drive to take the lead, Sherman was covering Gronk and Brady hit him for a huge first down.
February 2nd, 2015 at 10:32 AM ^
Exactly. There were times that Sherman covered Gronk (and NE could have had the matchup any time they wanted it) and Brady looked that way, saw Sherman, and dumped it off to someone else.
Sherman is in the territory where he doesn't look as good as he is because nobody even throws the ball his way anymore. He's a prick off the field, but he's a great cornerback on the field.
February 2nd, 2015 at 2:01 AM ^
Seriously? Nobody knew he was? You may not have known but folks who follow the NFL knew. Sherman was first team All NFL in 2012 and had a QB rating against of 44.9. In 2013 he had already been named to the Pro Bowl, as well as leading the league in interceptions at the time of the interview you mentioned. I think his QBR against was like 48.7 that year. Later named first team All Pro obviously. Obviously a pro bowler this year and will be 1st team All pro again. He's been the best corner in the game for the last 3 years and had been so for the 2 years prior to that interview.
Obviously Sherman is exceedingly brash and cocky but he does have the game to back it up. He's also one of the most articulate and entertaining athletes in the world and he's been on point with his criticisms of the NFL. And the NCAA too boo. And Skip Bayless.
February 2nd, 2015 at 2:35 AM ^
Sherman from 4th and 18 against USC in 2007.
February 2nd, 2015 at 12:11 PM ^
It's fine if you don't like him, but everyone who watches the NFL knew who he was before that interview. He is obnoxious, but he is also one of the best CBs in the league.
February 1st, 2015 at 11:21 PM ^
Did you forget the /s?
February 1st, 2015 at 11:23 PM ^
Not speaking for the OP, but his act is just tired at this point. He walks right up to that line between acceptable NFL behavior and being an ass, which is probably a blast for Seahawks fans but is just annoying to the rest of us. He's a smart guy who knows how to get attention, but between screaming his head off about Crabtree, the "You Mad?" comments at Brady some years ago, the big talk when they win but not talking to reporters when they lose, all of it is just annoying to me. And yeah, the least surprising thing was watching the Seattle D start throwing punches when the game was out of reach.
February 1st, 2015 at 11:27 PM ^
exactly
February 1st, 2015 at 11:32 PM ^
I think you're confusing the entire Seattle defense with Richard Sherman. He was actually the guy that was the first to shake Brady's hand to congratulate him.
February 1st, 2015 at 11:48 PM ^
I'm getting a sense you are a Seahawks fan, so I'm not going to argue with you. Great, Sherman came over and shook the hand of a guy who defeated his team in the SB. That makes him absolutely as normal a person as basically every other Seahawk today. But if you are trying to convince me that the guy who ran up to Brady yelling "you mad", who ranted about a "second-rate" receiver in Crabtree and talking about how he wants to "choke him out" every year (I'm sure in terms of coverage, but still), who wouldn't talk to the media after SD beat Seattle with a strong focus on throwing at Sherman, etc. isn't annoying or a hypocrite, you are going to be wasting a lot of time.
February 2nd, 2015 at 6:28 AM ^
I'm actually a Browns fan.
February 2nd, 2015 at 7:47 AM ^
Then my condolences.

February 1st, 2015 at 11:09 PM ^
Yes the shermanfreude is really just as good. I can't stand the seahawks and all the 12th man etc. I like the pats especially because of Brady. But I loooove watching the seahawks lose too
February 1st, 2015 at 11:22 PM ^
I also can't stand a lot of the 12th man stuff, especially since a lot of people have jumped on the bandwagon recently and have only known success. As a Lions fan I feel like they're Bran and I'm Old Nan from Game of Thrones and I want to give the "Oh, my sweet summer child. What do you know about fear?" speech.
February 2nd, 2015 at 7:18 AM ^
Teams that win get lots of fans. But at same time, they get almost as many blind haters. the same people that hate the Seahawks today probably hated the Patriots 10 years ago, minus most michigan fans.
February 2nd, 2015 at 9:03 AM ^
I don't blindly hate the Seahawks, I actually don't hate the Seahawks at all. Their fans, however, I have found to be annoying and oversensitive.
February 2nd, 2015 at 12:23 PM ^
I live among them. They've suffered for most of the Seahawks existence, like I have with the Lions. They're just enjoying it while they can. You want to see obnoxious, come see me if the Lions ever win one.
February 2nd, 2015 at 12:06 AM ^
Can't stand Sherman or Pete Carrol or pretty much any Seahawk except Russell Wilson.
February 2nd, 2015 at 12:24 PM ^
And Kam Chancellor. I really like the way that dude plays.
February 2nd, 2015 at 6:05 AM ^
The only way this could be better is if it was preceded by a clip showing Sherman mocking Darrelle Revis by signalling "2 - 4" to the camera, like he did after Seattle's TD pass earlier in the game.

If I could figure out how to do it, I'd post that "whatever" picture of Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney that went viral a couple of years ago.
Here's hoping this picture suffers the same fate.

Not going to lie - found a bit of humor in watching his reaction.
