OT- Canelo vs Trout(boxing)

Submitted by LightTheLamp on
Canelo Alvarez (41-0-1 30KOs) vs Austin Trout (26-0 14KOs) WBA WBC unification bout. For you boxing fans this is the biggest fight of the year thus far. Canelo is a great fighter who is looking for a marquee win in his career. Should be a great fight!

Canelo wins by unanimous decision. The knockdown in the 7th and his head work dodging Trouts punches won him the fight as well as picking his spots to throw power punches.

Sloppy fight. Trout knew with the fight in Texas(why would he agree to go there...I know I know $$$$)he had to dominate to get a decision so he was overly aggressive. That's not his style but conditions called for it. Canelo is a selective stalker but Trout wasn't going to allow him that fight. So the stalker is looking to counter and the boxer is volume punching. Two men fighting unnatural fights. If Canelo was a better counter puncher he would have dominated but that's a hole in his game. Rightfully the fight could have gone either way but it was in Texas so.....

I'm not sure i'm a fan of that "open scoring" they have in Texas.  For one thing, it definitely took the suspense away for me as a person watching the fight, knowing that Canello basically had to stay conscious and he would win.  And also like they said, kind of forces the fighter who is down on the cards to change up from what he is comfortable with.  I didn't even know they had that,, but then i don't watch much boxing these days.
