OT: Can I bring my Canon Rebel T1i camera into the stadium Saturday

I just bought a Canon Rebel T1i camera and am really hoping to use it to take pictures of the stadium rededication this Saturday. I have read the Michigan Stadium policy and it doesn't allow any motion picture cameras. While my camera does have video capabilities its not solely a video camera so I was hoping I could still get it in the stadium. I was wondering if anyone else had brought in a camera like this into the stadium in the past, or knew if I could get this in or not? I know I can't bring a camera bag and I know that I am probably just being paranoid but I really don't want to get to the stadium and have to turn back around and miss any part of the game day experience. Sorry to fill up the board with a post like this, I spent an hour looking around the mgoblue.com website for some way to ask the athletic department and maybe its just that I'm bad with technology but I couldn't find anything. Even a number or an email address I may be able to contact would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help someone may be able to offer.

Those who stay will be champions

The policy is vague.

As you state, video cameras are prohibited.  Whereas "Small cameras and radios" are expressly permitted.

Just depends on what the usher determines is "small."  I certainly wouldn't be bringing one of those two foot long telephoto lenses.  Good luck...

I wouldn't really call the T1i a "small" camera. To be honest you're probably better leaving it home.

Worst case scenario.  Go SUPER early when they first open the gates and ask them.  I assume it wouldn't be too much of a hassle if you're tailgating nearby.  Otherwise, maybe call the ticket office and they'll know a number you can call.  Perhaps even campus police (DPS) might know.

But the lows are so extreme that the good seems fucking cheap.

please get back to me now in other to close the transaction once and for all.

The policy is aimed at  keeping full blown camcorders / videocameras from being brought into the stadium, from what I understand.  They don't want people making their own recordings of the (entire) game.

Of course technology is changing and even small cellphones and small compact cameras are able to take hd video now, but, they policy is what it is.

A "still" camera probably won't cause a fuss.   Having said that it is best to do what MGoRob said and get there early and ask someone at the gates.  Gates open 2 hours before kickoff.

I would be shocked if they tried to bar it. Taking photos at the Big House is something fans have been doing for decades, and the T1i is no bigger than old film SLRs. I think BlueGoM is correct in surmising that the UM authorities don't want someone making videos of the entire game, but it also makes sense to get there well before kickoff just to give yourself some wiggle room in case there's a problem.

I've seen tons of DSLRs in the stadium. As for it doing video too, many digital cameras (even the tiny ones) do video and I've never seen an usher make someone show him whether their camera does video.

It would be nice to have a back up plan, though, like arriving early enough to get back to your car if something weird happens.
