OT- Calvin Johnson considering retirement.

Submitted by FatGuyTouchdown on

In a press conference today, Calvin Johnson announced that he is considering retirement, and should have a decision coming by next week.

He's been injured on and off the past couple seasons, but as the Lions best player, it would leave a huge hole.

Also, typical Lions...

This is a "Barry Sanders Retirement;" he is being misused on a mediocre team, has enough money to have a great life and doesn't want to spend the rest of that life with CTE or artificial knees/hips.

It also speaks volumes as to what he thinks about the direction of the franchise.

No. To have a Barry retirement, you have to wait until 1 week before the season starts, so you can really f- over your team and teammates.

past few years. He's made his money and established a legacy. He's done everything save for win. I can't blame him if he hangs it up. He comes from a family of achievement.(doctors, lawyers) so I imagine that he'll do well for himself in retirement.

...and now possibly Calvin Johnson? Damn Lions. I don't know the full extent of his injuries, but I'd have to think that if the Lions were not firing coaches all the time and actually competing for Superbowls, it would certainly make retiring a much more difficult decision.

Can this end up being a good thing for the Lions?  Make the right GM hire and all that cap space could result in a better team without Calvin.
