OT: Calgary Hitmen Teddy Bear Toss for Charity
Did anyone see video from the Calgary Hitmen "Teddy Bear Toss" for charity? It is an annual holiday event at the Hitmen hockey game. Teddy bears are thrown onto the ice after the first goal scored by the Hitmen (not sure what happens if they get shut out . . .) and all of the bears collected are given to the needed for the holidays. Pretty darn cool. Check out the YouTube video below:
I wonder if something like this could be done at Michigan? Probably not during a football game (if only because of the logistics of it) but maybe during a hockey or basketball game? The level of participation in Calgary is stunning!

The inagural Yost toss was in 2004. I remember it happening while I was there (Had season Tickets 2005-2009) but I don't remember when.

We collected over 1200 stuffed animals this season for our teddy bear toss. Thank you to everyone who donated (especially for not being morons this season and tossing a blow-up sex doll on the ice like you did for the 2009 teddy bear toss)!

That's awesome. For what its worth, I did see some covered in plastic wrap but, regardless, that's hilarious.

The Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL do the same thing. It is a cool event, but this year's toss was the same day as the Big Chill so I missed it.

I was fired from my first job as Director of Marketing for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals for suggesting the "Anvil Toss for the Children" event.

I would give it a conditional yes, but only if the team is owned by Bret Hart's brother-in-law Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart?

Portland Winterhawks do it annually as well. This year the papers say they had over 16k bears

Too bad the dad was rocking a WVU hat during the clip. Otherwise, great idea and cute kid.

Deker Blue Line Club (The Michigan Hockey Booster Club) does this every season. I was on the ice this year collecting bears. I ended up getting tagged in the butt several times by the student section.

The Wings have been doing an event like that in the spring since 1952.
