OT: Cabrera Triple Crown watch
Miguel Cabrera is officially in the lineup for tonight's game against KC:
Looks like the start time is 8:10:

Hopeful signs: Cabrera is at .331, Trout seven points back. Hamilton needs two homers to tie Cabrera. Both players will have wrapped up their games before the Tigers commence play, so we will know where we stand.
Do your commenting, hopefully celebrating, here. Updates, shifting percentages and tallies all appreciated, since I will be wrapped up with an eight-year-old who likes to go to bed at midnight, only looking in from time to time.

Granderson can still catch Cabby in HR's. He just homered off Dice-K. If yankees play game 163 against the Orioles, then any HR's Grandy bombs would count for his regular season stats too. So we may not know the triple crown untill tommorow.

I believe that's #42 for Granderson.
NYY is up 5-1 on Boston after Cano's bomb. Don't think we're going to have to worry about a 1-game playoff.

that would be sweet revenge on the team that dealt him.

I don't think the Tigers regret that trade for a minute.
October 3rd, 2012 at 10:20 PM ^
Exactly. They were able to get to a possible all-star CF to replace Granderson and Scherzer has pitched like an ace this year.
October 3rd, 2012 at 8:00 PM ^
That was Grandy's 42 HR. Cano also just homered so looking more and more like there will be no game 163 to decide the AL East.

Can we end this MVP debate? I'm not arguing that Trout shouldn't get it. But Miggy is the MVP this season, Trout will get his turn eventually.
October 3rd, 2012 at 8:39 PM ^
I don't know if Trout will get his chance. He seems to be having a season similar to Bosch's, just is more talented than Bosch so his descent isn't as obvious and his peak was higher.
October 3rd, 2012 at 8:41 PM ^
All the more reason for him not to win it.
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:53 PM ^
His season is not only nothing like Boesch's, but the two players have pretty much nothing at all in common.

Is it safe to say Cabrera has this wrapped up? Trout can't catch him now...
October 3rd, 2012 at 8:44 PM ^
How about Fielder batting .313 for the season; I didn't expect that. I doubt Miggy gets the Triple Crown without the off season acquisition of Prince Fielder
October 3rd, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
wait till next year when you have vmart batting after fielder. You are going to see Fielders numbers increase next year as well...

I would like that lineup but I seriously doubt it.
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:23 PM ^
But it would be absolutely dirty.
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:26 PM ^
Not happening...period. Verlander and Cabrera are due up for extensions in the next 2-3 years. With Fielders contract, we can't add too much more to our payroll without sacrificing secondary players: Sherzer, Fister, Jackson...

Boo!
Quit raining on my parade
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:46 PM ^
Jackson goes 2 for 3 tonight to end the season at .300. He is now out of the game so it'll stay at that mark.
Sweet!
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
So no more stats. But the Yanks are still playing, and hitting. Wasn't expecting Granderson to make things nerve-racking.
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:39 PM ^
Trout's done. Miggy's done. As long as Curtis doesn't hit 2 more HR's tonight, the Triple Crown is locked up
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:47 PM ^
On a full count?
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:50 PM ^
Damn Yankees. Damn their toybox park

October 3rd, 2012 at 9:45 PM ^
Yeah he's got it! Great day in baseball history!
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:46 PM ^
Holy crap. Granderson just went yard. Worst case is he ties Cabrera as I doubt there's two more at bats, but still.
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:47 PM ^
Fucking Yankee stadium
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:47 PM ^
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:48 PM ^
Well Curtis is 1 HR behind Cabby, but he won't bat again tonight. So it's done.

October 3rd, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
with only one out. They're going through their batting order like commuters through a revolving door. Let's just hope he doesn't get TWO more at-bats.
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:55 PM ^
Uhh, he's slated to get one in the 8th if this keeps up.
October 3rd, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
Doesn't really matter. If he ties in HR, he ties. Yastrzemski was tied for the HR lead in his Triple Crown season, too.
October 3rd, 2012 at 11:36 PM ^
If he ties, he ties.

Granderson is probably gonna get another at bat. I hate the BoSox and I hate the tiny Yankee Stadium
October 3rd, 2012 at 10:00 PM ^
Yankees and Red Sox games are painful to watch. They need to find a way to speed this shit up. Both teams love to spend more time kicking dirt around and doing anything other than, you know, actually playing baseball.
October 3rd, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
Seriously. Cano, you're up 12-2 and ahead of the count 3-0. Quit stepping out of the batter's box after every pitch
October 3rd, 2012 at 10:03 PM ^
Red Sox pitching is freaking atrocious.
October 3rd, 2012 at 10:04 PM ^
Still only one out and bases loaded.
October 3rd, 2012 at 10:07 PM ^
I think Curtis got pulled
