OT - Burn Notice

Submitted by Blazefire on
I'll be darned if this show doesn't manage to keep getting better. The first episode drew me in because of the Bruce Campbell factor, and several seasons later, I'm more hooked than ever. Simon seems to be a serious bastard. Should make an excellent adversary for next season. Whoo! Anybody else watch?

Thanks for not having any "spoilers" in your post. It is one of my favorite shows. I was hooked from the first show and have found no reason to go to Burn Notice rehab yet. I think I'll go watch it now.

So you never wanted to be a spy (cinematic, not real-life)? I like the tips he gives, especially when a plan goes awry, and things get tense on screen (he's got to accomplish a task in a short amount of time, or he's in a fight), but meanwhile his calm narrative is telling you what to do in such a situation. And things get blown up.

I find it ironic that SNL is mocking another show's popularity, when SNL itself has been riding the coattails of its past for about 15 years. Has anyone watched SNL lately and said, "I'm glad I stayed up 'til 1am to watch this"? I sure haven't. To me, the incarnations of SNL since the mid-to-late 90s fall somewhere between "Kind of funny" and "Why the fuck I am still watching this? Oh, that's right, Carrie Underwood is the musical guest."

Easily my favorite show. I absolutely cannot get enough. Like others, I've been there since day one and have yet to be let down. Michael Westen is my hero and I wish Sam Axe was real so I could be his best friend.

The show is just so fun. Many of the episodes seem so similar when watching them, but it doesn't make me want to watch any less. Bruce Campbell is just icing on the cake. His CSI Miami bit was killing me last week. It's weird to see him having mainstream success though. Anyone here remember The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.?

Fondly. The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. was going to be Fox's big hit show on Friday nights in about 1993. The show that followed it was some filler show called The X Files. TABCJr was dubbed the most violent show on television. I guess when you count every punch in an anachronistic western comedy-drama, that's gonna happen. I own TABCJr on DVD. Fantastic gift from my brother.

I love it. Just watched the pilot for the first time last week though. I'm pretty sure that was the only episode I hadn't seen. Did Fiona only have the Irish accent in the pilot episode? However, the best show on USA is Psych, hands down. :)

I'm too episodes behind, I need to catch up. Stupid 8 day delay on Hulu. If you miss one episode you're pretty much stuck on that 8 day delay. I feel like this season started out weak. Simon was cool, but I felt like Michael was suddenly out of character. That blackmailing the old woman seemed like a poorly written episode. So he blackmails her, out of character for him, then in the end he breaks in and hacks the computer for data. Why didn't he just break in the first place? In the previous episodes he's breaking into military research labs an all these fancy places, but all of a sudden the DMV is too tough of a target. Kind of the same with having Sam exploit some old military buddy. Hopefully these two episodes I need to catch up on will get stronger.

I watch, but didn't start with the first episode (which I just saw this week - and was surprised to hear Fiona's accent). I've seen most of the episodes, with the repeats and marathons, but out of order for many.

I do have to say, I love watching the show. But if you really pay attention for an episode or two, you will notice how atrocious the acting is. But it really is a very good show, and I watch it religiously regardless of the spotty acting.

Love the show. Awful acting, check. Unbelievable plot lines, check. Stakeouts in plain view of the targets, check. And yet, the show works for some reason. I think it's because there's nothing serious about it. I can't wait to see the finale this weekend on TiVo.

DVD so I'm holding out for the multi-season bundle pack. The missus and I watch an old series on off days while watching 'NCIS', 'NCIS-LA', and 'The Good Wife' in 'real' time. We are currently using 'ALIAS' as our off day old series. Which brings me to a thought about Jennifer Gardner; does she act like a young, female, Willam Shatner, or is it just me? At times she brings to much 'emotion per moment', or E.P.M as I have coined while watching her, which reminds me of Bill of Star Trek days. It works for me- I imagine it works just fine for Ben Affleck, you know, when the moment is right- and I like her as an actress, but her style reminds me of Shatner's.

Premise is a little weak, but love the characters and the show. Fi is **hot** and Michael is **bad**. All the crap they blow up you'd think they wouldn't be able to go incognito in Miami.
