Time for another one of Notre Dame's many returns to glory.

Phsshh old news now everyone is talking about who will replace Kelly

So you're saying that for you it's not peanut butter jelly time?
(Whew, that's a relief.)

Wait, who's this Brian Kelly fellow?
December 11th, 2009 at 12:43 AM ^
Came from some Highschool outside of chicago. The team 2 years ago only won 5 games in 5 years. He led the team to 9 wins in his first 2 years! ND said he will return ND to glory.

Edit: apparently confirmed here for first time. My fault. Still not OT, of course :).

Oh well their loss.

I love how Kelly was just on ESPN accepting his Coach of the Year award and Chris Fowler asked him something like 5 questions in a row trying to get Kelly to admit to this and Kelly would not bite. Kelly even said (paraphrasing), "I see what you're trying to do Chris, but I don't have anything to say about it right now." Dude, you're not fooling anyone.

I was annoyed by how persistent Chris Fowler was with trying to get him to announce his new job. If he wanted to announce it then, he could have made that choice. It ended up making both of them look stupid because Kelly obviously wanted to make the announcement the proper way, at a press conference, while Fowler wanted to ask the same question six times.
I just started laughing when they announced Kelly had won the award because everyone knew he was bailing on his team... oops! Maybe they should have made a last second bump down to #2 on the short list.

I bet the Cinci team bust tonight was a real fucking hoot.
December 10th, 2009 at 11:05 PM ^
for CINCINNATI FOOTBALL???
December 11th, 2009 at 7:07 AM ^
The other day TomVH posted something about how it would be difficult to hate him with his years at CMU and how he met him and all. However, lets look at it like this; the "savior" of cinci football comes along, builds the program up, leads them to an undefeated season, and a BCS bowl against one of the best teams in the nation. So Cinci players are all pumped, getting ready for the biggest games of their careers, of the schools career, and their coach dumps them for more money. Shows alotta class, im not having any difficulty hating him now.

It's almost as if this same situation could occur anywhere, though--like in Morgantown, West Virginia circa December 17, 2007.
/damn, there's that "class" thingy again!

True about the Post-Apocalyptic Den of Insanity.
But, while RR was there for 7 years, there are players on UC's team that will be working with their 3rd head coach.
December 10th, 2009 at 11:14 PM ^
It's a shame that a team can have their coach win Coach of the Year and have the players not be excited for him at all. Shows a lot about his character, if you ask me.
December 10th, 2009 at 11:16 PM ^
now let's get these two great programs restored to historical greatness!

Does the firing of Charlie Weis and the hiring of Brian Kelly end the era of Notre Dame fans blaming Ty Willingham for the football team's ineptitude?
December 11th, 2009 at 12:08 AM ^
Nobody -- including the revisionists -- thought Michigan would be where it is at the end of year 2. So, no one can 100% predict what Kelly will do at Notre Dame.
One thing is certain, though. He is absolutely not in the 'Notre Dame mold.' It shows that the school and the AD are serious about returning the team to its winning ways.
Should make for a fun(ner) rivalry!
December 11th, 2009 at 12:30 AM ^
weren't exactly in the 'ND mold' either.
December 11th, 2009 at 12:15 AM ^
I was just about to read Dan Wetzel's article on Yahoo!Sports when I got to thinking, the Black Coaches Association is gonna be pissed. I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm almost certain, ND didn't contact nor interview ANY minority coach before hiring BK.
And they consider themselves a paradigm of moral integrity. Shame.
December 11th, 2009 at 9:53 AM ^
Is there a White Coaches Association too? That is racist.
December 11th, 2009 at 12:31 AM ^
Five years ago I was thanking God ND wasn't smart enough to hire Brian Kelly.
damnit

An offensive juggernaut will lead ND back to glory!
Deja vu?

this post should be tagged as meta. That's what Brian was saying in that post, right? Idk, I just skimmed it.
