OT: Breaking Bad (spoiler)

Anyone catch BB tonight?  The 14 year old boy who was shot by Todd in last week's episode was named Drew Sharp, according to the newscaster.  I wonder if the writers are aware of the douchebag writer from the Freep?

Now if only Todds name was Rich Rod, that would of been some poetic justice.

I think it was a "set-up" episode.  Well, it obviously was a set-up episode.

I actually think it was a very good episode... The opening scene (after credits) was great.  Surreal, somber, scarily quiet.  It really put you in Jesse's mind.

Walt's "empire" line was kinda epic.  We've known that Jesse has become the moral compass, but that really came out this episode.  Conversely, this episode really showed how far Walt has gone off the deep end.  He has a chance to make the money he originally needed 5-fold, get out of the business, keep his family safe, and be done with it.  But he wants his empire.

And Walt's escape from the restraints?  That was cringe-worthy.  No huge surprise endings, but it was a necessary set-up episode that had some very moving moments.  I liked it.

I thought last week was a set up episode. And the more you have set up episodes consecutively, the more you realize neither were supposed to be set up episodes. It's like the final season of Lost when I began convincing myself that there were 6 set up episodes in a row because I didn't want to convince myself that I didn't like the episodes. I'm just saying, this one episode wasn't great. The Jesse for dinner scene was great (albeit perhaps a bit overacted). I hope we get the suspense back next week.

This one ended by turning the series in a whole new direction.  If you didn't enjoy this episode, I don't understand how you enjoy this series.

Last week we were left with Vamanos Pest set for the future - the expectation that they'd make meth for X amount of time and make Y millions.  There was really no suspense.

Now, we are left in limbo.  What is Walt's plan?  How'd he get Jesse to go along with it?  How much longer can Walt dodge bullets? 

While last week was one of the best episodes I've seen in any TV series, it's easy to argue that this one was more suspenseful.  You mentioned the dinner scene - this one pushed suspensful into uneasyness.  No, it didn't have the "OH SHIT" moment at the very end - but you can't have that every week, otherwise it becomes cheapened.  The more I think about this latest episode, the more I am impressed with it.

Speaking of the dining scene - I thought Skyler's exit was perfect.  It was the first time she's openly defied Walt in front of someone else.  The tension is building there and the question is: is it Skyler or Walt who acts first?

Yeah, his plan will somehow involve "partnering" with the Phoenix crew, but Todd will be secretly backing him up in some way during the "negotiation" meeting.  Todd having connections in prison will somehow come into play during the mid-season finale in a couple weeks is my guess.  Perhaps Walt goes Godfather style and has all 9 of Mike's men killed in a short period of time by Todd and his connections.

It could be his real 52nd birthday, but you cannot assume that as a fact. He told the waitress that he is from New Hampshire and showed her a New Hampshire ID. Now if you were to change your identity in order to dissappear from people finding you, would you use your exact birthday as your real identity? 

While tt is natural to assume the one-year timeline, I personally think not.

It was good to see Saul again.....I was wondering when he's show up again.  It seems to demonstrate that the legal aspects will be taking focus again.

Wasn't he not he unsettled by Mike's return?  He seemed pretty comfortable in this episode.
