OT: Bradford signs

Looks like Bradford has signed.  $78 million, $50 million guaranteed.  IMHO, that seems like a LOT to pay for the next Trent Dilfer...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5425041

Hopefully Suh will follow suit.

but I'm so happy we drafted our QB last year as opposed to this year. With Stafford last year, and Suh this year, I feel like those top picks fell perfectly in place. I like that better than, say, Curry last year and Bradford this year.

With pick 1 in 2008 lions got Stafford
With pick 2 in 2009 lions got Suh

With pick 2 in 2008 Rams got that tackle from baylor (jason smith?)
With Pick 1 in 2009 Rams got Bradford.

I'd much rather have the two players the Lions got.

I actually think that barring an injury, Bradford will be a good NFL QB.  He is very accurate and has a decent arm.

His arm is better than McCoy's but that don't mean much.

Bradford is accurate, but his skill set is like Brady Quinn's, he isn't going to be able to make the necessary nfl level throws.
On top of that, who knows about his shoulder injury.

I'm pretty sure that if he couldn't make the necessary NFL level throws, he wouldn't have been taken with the 1st overall pick in the entire draft. You can't accurately predict how his shoulder will hold up, and you can't know how he'll operate under pressure in an NFL stadium until he gets there, but the one thing that the GMs can evaluate is which throws he can make, and he made every single one at his pro day, including the one that was dropped.

Dude has bust written all the hell over him, even if his fragile shoulder holds up, which it won't considering how awesome St. Louis' offensive line is.  Hopefully this whole deal with rookies getting absurd amounts of money and out-earning Peyton Manning or Tom Brady will end with the new CBA next year.

Why the Rams passed on Suh to take Bradford when Locker is sitting there ripe for the picking next year is beyond me.  Not that I really cared that the Rams picked Bradford, because now I get to watch Suh fuck shit up in a Lions jersey.  I was also on the Stafford band wagon last year too, so I'm quite happy.

The funniest part about the draft were the Rams fans though.  Once reality set in that they were going to pick Bradford, most of them became delusional and actually WANTED Bradford over Suh.  Good luck with that...

I've seriously never figured out the love for Bradford. He basically played in a Texas Tech style offense....if he was a Red Raider coming out there's no way he would have been the first pick in the draft. Not to mention his shoulder issues. Funny to say, but I'm glad to be a Lions fan in this situation.

This is what's wrong with this country. The country is going broke. Many people are broke. People more valuable to society than Bradford are making not even near 50 million in a lifetime. Many fans who can barely afford to go to the games are paying for these salaries. Half of that salary should be given back to the fans in order to lower ticket prices. I'm sure Bradford would be just fine with 25 million guaranteed.

The NFL really needs a rookie salary cap.  Like, a big one.  No unproven player should be getting anywhere near that much gauranteed.  It can get franchises in trouble, which always trickles back down to the fans.  These players need to actually show that they can succeed in the NFL for a few years before they get anywhere near that amount of money.
