It was touching for a very sad moment. Yeah the game was out of hand by the point he was injured, but to end your college career like that is very sad.
OT- Bob Huggins moment with Da'Sean Butler
This display definitely changed the way I think about Huggins now. I have a lot more respect for him now.
But this was my reaction:
1. Shit that sucks for Butler
2. Wow that is really nice and caring by Huggins
3. Wow he is really hugging him a lot but I guess this is good
4. Why is he rubbing his face like it's his wife in a loving embrace
5. Waiting for the kiss
Was I the ONLY person here who honestly was waiting for the kiss from Huggins? It started out as a great gesture but got AWKWARD AS FUCK as it went on.
Neg bang if appropriate but I hope Butler is okay.
Well, I wasn't really expecting a kiss. But it did get a little awkward-looking after awhile. I also couldn't understand why they didn't get a stretcher/cart sooner. Even after he was carried off, he had to be left in a chair for another 2-3 minutes before a cart finally arrived. Where was the cart driver - in the restroom?
Did anyone else see his daughters during this???
The one on the right was smokin.
"WVU Coach Gets Physical With Players-NCAA to Investigate"
All kidding aside, I think that any good coach has to care about his players or at least make the players think he does (Saban). I didn't see this because my Duke hate had overwhelmed my ability to watch any more. Class move by Huggy.
Now where's some daughter pics?
I don't get the Duke hating. UConn and UNC have been more succesful over the last 15 years but there isn't the same hatred for them. So it's not just about winnng. If it's that they seem too prep school -ish(code for "too many white guys") then say it. I'd respect someone more for saying that than the usual kneejerk responses that they can't substantiate. Look at Huggy when the charge on Butler happened. You heard it on the mic and the announcer repeated it. Huggy said to the ref "I guess they don't foul." That's a common anti Duke complaint. Uhh Huggy it WAS a charge AND Duke got called for more fouls than you 16-12.
Also when WV bounced Duke in the tourny 2 years ago Joe Mazzolla taunted Duke after the loss by slaping the floor(Duke 90's thing on defense) in their direction. It got a little attention this week but not much. If it was the other way around we all know it would have been front page stuff all week. But Duke just let the butt kicking do their talking. Their guys go to school and K runs a clean pogram. They do it the right way.
still bitter about the game where they got off to a 34-2 start on us and also when they beat us for the national title. But yeah, they dominate and they do it cleanly (as far as we know).
Duke's kids go to school and Coach K's solid but
They are just so much fun to hate on!
That's cool when it's just about fun like your case. It's just odd when people who aren't fans of their rivals(UNC, NCSt,etc) have actual pure hatred for them. it's like "Really?"
...there was a time when WE considered ourselves a rival to them.
I think part of it is that people tend to pick a side in most rivalries. Duke v. UNC being a big one. Most people pick UNC for whatever reason. But saying it is odd to not like a team when you have no rivalry with them is false. Most people hate the Yankees, but most of those people are not Red Sox fans.
i muttered as i left to get a beer. is that guy gonna have huggins' baby?
With all due respect, you sir are an asshole.
With about as little respect as I can muster, you sir are a fucking asshole.
Why are you peoples assuming Peg is a sir?
I understand how difficult it could be for Butler. Just last week one of the seniors (and leaders) on our football team messed his knee up on the last play of our divisional final. He was absolutely gutted having to miss the rest of the season and basically finishing his football career. And this is football in the UK we're talking about here... not multi-million dollar career to look forward to
Reminds me of Rich Brooks at Kentucky. I think it was last year when his QB threw a game-ending interception late against Georgia. The guy came back to the sideline with tears and Brooks just let the kid fall into his arms.
But was it awkward?
Not until they saw each other the next day at practice...
Da'Sean Butler's knee injury apparently was as serious as it looked. He suffered a torn ACL, a minor MCL sprain, and two bone bruises.
I wonder what this does to his draft status. Terrible news for him.
I never was a Huggins fan, but what he did last night was genuine.
My hats off to him, and I wish Butler a speedy recovery. I don't like seeing bad things happen to good people.
The thing about Huggins is he doesn't give a shit what the media or fans think. He's there for his players and he has their respect. That's all that matters.
