OT: Bob Bradley fired
Know we got a lot of futbol guys here so you'll be pleased to know he's no longer USMNT coach.

"Bob Bradley has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of the #USMNT. More info: http://bit.ly/r9TUJH"
It's time to take US Soccer in a new direction. Hire Klinsman.
Was just about to post it!

Let's see who they hire before becoming too happy.
So what flights are we supposed to track to find out who the new USMNT coach will be?
them submit to Klinsmann. He has a broad vision for American soccer, just like how he reinvigorated the German team. Let him do it!
Okay, but how is he at pointing at stuff?
Does he poop?
Here we have photoshopped evidence of him pointing AT his poop, a golden World Cup Trophy. 2fer.
That Klinsmann actually said no way. He took a look at our youth organization and said he would only coach if he was allowed to radically change how the system wholesale and was told by Gulati that this area would not be in his realm. Maybe Gulati has come around.
If I can find a link I'll post it.
MNT is not a job for everybody. He's still a great club coach, hope he stays in MLS and helps develop more of our young talent.
He fell to the ground clutching his knee at the news.
Oh thank the lord. This is awesome.
Guss Hiddink!
Not only does he have the Hoke point down pat, but dude is a damn good manager. He's gotten a lot out of every squad he's ever coached.
South Korea's semifinal berth in the '02 World Cup. Russia to the '08 Euro semis. He's with Turkey now, and I'm guaranteeing they'll go somewhere they've never been before.
Regardless, it'll be Klinsmann.
Turkey still needs help qualifying for Euro 2012. Considering they've reached both Euro and WC semis recently, I doubt Guus is taking them anywhere they haven't been.
Dream hire. I have a feeling the Turks will break the bank to keep him, though. And they have more soccer-loving sultans with large bank accounts than we do.
Love him, but if his good friend Roman couldn't persuade him to come to Chelsea because he wanted to see through his commitment to the Turkish team (and to Russia before that), I don't think he'll come here.
I want to say it's encouraging that they appear to have the replacement lined up, but I'm not sure they could put a deal together with Klinsmann so quickly and quietly
I truly wonder if the poor performances by MLS in these recent friendlies had anything to do with the timing of this. The US soccer people can't be happy about all these European teams coming here and running roughshod over what was thought to be an improving league. Not saying it contributed to the decision, just the timing.
The end of the article says this. Too wild to speculate that they already have the next guy ready to hire?
since Gulati has been after Klinsman for a while. Maybe this means Gulati was able to convince him to take the job.
I don't trust Sunil Gulati to do anything correctly.
Im not as happy as others here about this move but it had to be done. also I'm not convinced were going to land klinsmann but he should be option #1,2 and 3

Also, this guy (http://twitter.com/#!/travismclark) seems to think they have someone lined up already. Apparently Bradley was scouting as recently as Monday.
goal.com is reporting that a replacement will be announced tomorrow.
Goal.com is equivalent to Bleacher Report.
I wouldn't go that far.
The nature of soccer, especially European soccer is all about rumor mongering. It gets to be excessive when the transfer deadline approaches and whenever there is talk about Cesc going to Barcelona.
I wouldn't trust Goal.com when compared to BBC or Sky (not that either of them will be very interested in our manager search). I'd trust ESPN before trusting Goal.com.
to quote the article:
"U.S. Soccer says it will have a further announcement on Friday, which likely will include the naming of Bradley's replacement. "
The BBC article says the same thing: link
Goal.com has the tendency to name specific names and such. I would just be weary if they started doing that.
Ives says it too though, and it's on MLS's front page. Definitely an announcement coming tomorrow, what else could it be other than the coach?
I think it's as likely to be Jason Kreis as it is Klinsmann.
Go to Klingsman with a blank check, this guy has a proven track record in Europe and would be an immediate upgrade. Also would be less predictable with formations and lineups, something many of Bradley's detractors (myself included) grew to hate.
More than the money, it is about control. Klinsman want full control of everything, which was something the US Soccer Federation was not willing to give before.
Here are Klinsmann's lineups at the World Cup. It's worth remembering as you look through this that they were playing a very high-energy pressing style and that in a WC you're typically playing every fifth:day, so fatigue can be expected to build up if players aren't rested.

This decision is the most important hire in the history of US Soccer. It's going to determine if we're going to be a player on the international stage in the future, or the meh team we've been for a while now.
This came about 1 year and 1 month too late by my estimation.
Gulati has to have someone in place for this to happen so suddenly. Let's hope it's Klinsman!
But everytime I see 'USMNT.' I think 'united states mutant ninja turtles.'

But otherwise, good news none the less. I'm thinking it's time to go in a new direction. I follow it a bit but I'm not a real big fan of soccer. One thing soccer does do: it does a damn good job bringing the nation together thru sports.
Not just you.

Does anyone remember what the previous problem with Klinsmann was? I could be wrong but seem to remember rumors that he was close to taking over the team at some point but there was an issue as to the amount of control Klinsmann would have...
He wanted full control of everything, including staff and anything that had to do with the players. They weren't able to get that in writing after they had been negotiating for months.
I'm not super surprised that they fired him, but if they were going to do it, now was definitely the time. Whoever gets the job will have a few friendlies in the next few months to get a feel for the team heading into the start of WC 2014 qualifying next summer. Klinsmann seems like the logical choice, but Mourinho has also said that he'd like to coach the USMNT one day (no way it happens now but maybe sometime down the road). Bradley took the team about as far as he could so I'm excited to see what happens now. On the other hand, if they go and hire another MLS coach it will be a huge disappointment.
I will never understand the player choices that BB made. Gringo Torres disappearing from the national team after the World Cup was surprising to me when he has so much composure and touch with the ball at his feet.
I am not a Bradley apologist, howeva, wasn't Edu injured . . . . I thought that's what left him questionable?
is available. Not sure if he'd be willing to cross the pond. But he's a helluva manager.
