OT: Bo Pelini granted permission to speak to Miami (YTM) about coaching vacancy
According to a tweet by Miami Herald reporter Michelle Kaufman:
#Bo Pelini granted permission by Nebraska to speak to #UM about job. Mullen, tuberville, Edsall have also had conversations.
I'm surprised that Pelini would ever want to leave Nebraska for Miami -- but what do I know? If he does leave, maybe our road to victory in the Schembechler Division becomes a little easier.

Couldn't you just spell out Miami? I'm a little on edge these days...

Hard Edge!

You'll notice this post was tagged "OT" and not "CC": because I am referring to the University of Miami.
This was a cheap attention grab.
December 9th, 2010 at 10:21 AM ^
Okay I don't know what this CC meme is ....someone please explain
December 9th, 2010 at 10:29 AM ^
CC = Cris Carter. You are supposed to read the following post in Cris Carter's voice for greater lulz.
December 9th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
or Clarence Carters classic "Strokin" much better lolz

that is all
December 8th, 2010 at 11:20 PM ^
At best, moving from NEB to Miami is a lateral move for Pelini. I wonder if this is due to the fallout over his sideline meltdown during the A&M game. The NE Chancellor or the AD got all huffy over it. Maybe this is Pelini's way of saying STFU or I'll leave.
I can't imagine this will endear Bo to Husker fans, but maybe they'll take Bo's side if this is a power struggle sort of thing.
We need Husker4Life to weigh in.

Southern Florida > Southern Nebraska

Nebraska football program > or = Miami foot ball program.
Miami's stadium was half full this year. And their stadium is 45 minutes away from their campus. Who wants to play in front of 35,000 people every week?
December 8th, 2010 at 11:18 PM ^
Jhackney?
December 9th, 2010 at 12:58 AM ^
Comrade CF has everything under control here. I hope when Bo Pelini interviews for the job that he remembers a tic-tac and to remember the six inches rule when talking to the AD.
You raise me up Comrade.

Did you ask for more nukes for christmas?
Just wondering if your supply was diminishing after this last month of posting.
December 9th, 2010 at 10:16 AM ^
Hopefully I am not on the naught list. I heard that SOB checks his list twice.
December 9th, 2010 at 10:24 AM ^
A nuke could persuade him.
December 9th, 2010 at 10:48 AM ^
going to let global warming slowly melt his home away. More terrifying for him. I just wonder where he will set up shop then.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:19 PM ^
Why would he ever leave a program he's built up recently and made into a top ten team and headed to a new conference?
oh.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:23 PM ^
I'll take the corn and the fields any day. You couldn't get me into Miami, any place else in Florida or the deep South, with a crowbar.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:26 PM ^
I don't know, man. I could see Bo chewing out a bouncer for not letting him in the club in his trademark sweatshirt.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:56 PM ^
You could always go to the central part of Florida where there are plenty of cattle ranches if that's more your kind of environment.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:58 PM ^
Yes please. I want to move to a place with high amounts of cow shit and 93 percent humidity. Sounds like fun!
December 9th, 2010 at 12:04 AM ^
Believe it or not, it's actually pretty awesome.
December 9th, 2010 at 12:20 AM ^
More like it smells of fun.

I like the Deep South, relative to my peers I am much more intelligent plus I kept my Northern pay scale while the cost of living significantly decreased.

Do the ACC officials get any say in this?
December 8th, 2010 at 11:24 PM ^
The only reason Pelini would leave is cash, lots of it!
My guess is that he is hoping to force Nebraska into a pay raise or extension, and really has no intention of leaving.
Of course this is pure speculation at this point.
December 9th, 2010 at 10:08 AM ^
I was going to term it a way to 'establish his market value,' but the idea is the same.
December 9th, 2010 at 10:56 AM ^
JeepinBen already posted this, but I think it bears repeating - he has two brothers who are assistant coaches. What better way to get them pub than interview and talk about them the whole time.

How do you think Mike Stoops ended up at Arizona? At some point brother Bob had to do some promotional work for lil bro.

I'm thinking of 2 names right now:
DT Kevin Williams
CB Charles Jackson
December 8th, 2010 at 11:30 PM ^
Maybe Pelini will have an hour long show on a network to tell everyone he's taking his screaming to South Beach?
December 8th, 2010 at 11:28 PM ^
having a chat or two with Mr. Pelini about his potty mouth. Pelini might be feeling unloved at the moment in Big Red Country.
This is turning out to be an interesting year for coaching changes.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:38 PM ^
This is also pretty interesting, if true. Tuberville hasn't been at Ole Miss more than two years, and Edsall seems like a eastern football kind of guy.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
Tuberville is at Texas Tech. Houston Nutt is at Ole Miss.
December 9th, 2010 at 12:07 AM ^
D'oh! Nice big fat fail on my part. Thanks for the correction.
December 9th, 2010 at 12:26 AM ^
No problem. Your point remains valid as this is his first year at Texas Tech. Although he does have a good resume with Auburn before his current gig.
December 9th, 2010 at 12:06 AM ^
and Edsall seems like a eastern football kind of guy.
In that part of Florida he'd fit right in. Every second person you meet on the east coast of Florida is from New York, New Jersey or Connecticut.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:43 PM ^
If you're Nebraska, you have to wondering.
It seems to me that a successful coach at Nebraska would be one of the most admired men in the entire state. I don't think being the Miami(YTM) coach is quite the same thing. Add to that Nebraska's tradition...
December 8th, 2010 at 11:47 PM ^
I am sort of loving all of the high profile coaching changes - takes some of the heat off of us for a few days.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:56 PM ^
It is rather refreshing to read about the changes at Florida, Miami, and Pittsburgh and then to read about a future rival having conversations. It seems as though wolverine fans have to constantly be wearing a suit of armor to deflect all the crap that comes our way.
The only way this gets better is if Tressel announces his retirement and D-bagtonio is picked to replace him. If I believed in Santa I know what I would ask for.
December 9th, 2010 at 12:02 AM ^
I'd be surprised if he left Nebraska unless he thinks he has a better chance to win an MNC and/or given more leeway at Miami. They certainly can recruit the athletes he likes for his defense, and maybe he sees a ceiling of some form at Nebraska with Osbourne at the top.
December 9th, 2010 at 12:16 AM ^
wow. Dumb, in my opinion.....but then again, I'd rather coach in a stadium that has and will continue to sell out until the end of time itself....
Than Miami, with a high-school size audience. But that's just me.
