OT: Block M Flag @ WC Game
Global Go Blue!
$20 says it's the guy that started the who's going to the wc thread.
I like money!
Sorry - wasn't me. I'm not in Brazil yet. Though now I'm thinking I should take a flag haha.
That picture gave Dave Brandon a semi. #globalbranding #goblueglobal
Gave me a semi, and I hate soccer.
A semi what?
A US semi-final appearance before I die.
That must be it.
Personally I'd love to see that BUT I'm also looking forward to the day a Michigan soccer player makes a World Cup roster and hopefully sees the field. Preferably for the US
UM works with some universities they have down there. A couple of microbiology postdocs came up for about a year and did some research in collaboration with our lab, so I know there are a few Brazilians that love the Maize and Blue. Not saying it's them, but Michigan is everywhere.
The UM biophysics department, specifically the faculty members that have dual appointments in biophysics and physics have collaborations with labs in Rio. During my 3rd year of my PhD I spent a couple weeks in Rio with a physics lab.
Double Post.... : (
Thanks for posting Carlos Spicyweiner
FYI - Not OT. Cool pic.
Is that an acceptable form of the block M? That's all I care about
Further proof of our global reach indeed. In the coming days, if someone down there holds up the Brian photobomb, that might be difficult to top.
That picture is one word. Tremendous.
Watching WC action yesterday with my 3 year old daughter, she noted that every team that was wearing either navy blue or yellow was "Michigan". I did nothing to dispute her impression.
Psshhhhhh. Let me know when we start going galactic like MSU.
Ok, letting you know, sorry about being over 40 years late though.
Is the field at Michigan Stadium big enough for a regulation soccer match? Not that we are going to replace football with fútbol any time soon, but if the WC comes to the USA any time in the future...
No. Not for an "official" match. They would have to knock down some walls and seats, or build a platfrom to raise the field. Not trivial, especially when there are lots of other stadiums that could do it with minimal modifications.
