"Can you imagine the meltdown in Ann Arbor if the Buckeyes go to Michigan tomorrow and defeat the Wolverines followed by an official announcement on Sunday or Monday that Urban Meyer is the new coach at Ohio State?"

Hey Bill, can you imagine us handing tsio their ass tomorrow, and Urban Meyer failing horribly and resigning due to "health concerns" 3 years later? That's the meltdown we're all looking forward to.

The only meltdown will be between his ears after Michigan lays the wood to the Bucks tomorrow. Hey Bill, it's going to be like the nineties all over again. I hope you still have your old psychiatrist's number on speed dial, you may need an appointment with the sofa tomorrow evening. Don't forget the night light either, it gets dark early this time of year.

The pressure is all on us - there is almost zero pressure on them.  They can just say this is the worst team in this rivalry since X and they would be right.

I have to say this game scares me more than any on the schedule.   But when I have fear I just say:

BEAT OHIO!!!!

Ahh - that totally feels better....

The real meltdown has been happening all year at OSU.

--Tressel lying to the NCAA

-Fickel becoming (and soon unbecoming) head coach

-A half dozen players suspended for NCAA violations

-Posey getting suspended for almost the entire year

-Pryor getting money from Sarniak, free loaner cars, and essentially forced by the NCAA to leave the team, whereupon he also turned in his teammates for getting illegal benefits

How many other guilty players have feared being implicated all year long?

The link below unsurprisingly finds that the entire team is now "drained"

Now, the OSU admin may think that getting Meyer would absolve them of guilt and lead them to the promised land.   But Meyer reportedly has serious health problems: not only stress related spasms in his esphagus but also an arachnoid cyst impinging on his brain.  One symptom of the latter is incapacitating headaches, like those he once reported.  Other symptoms can include memory loss as well as highly erratic decision making.  I wonder if this helps explain his almost bizarre, on-gain off-again decisions--like leaving his FLA job "for good", then telling recruits he'd be back, then turning around and deciding to leave again.  As a young HS player, would you feel secure committing to play for this guy?

Also, if OSU loses tomorrow, Urban would only become the second coach in row with a losing record vs UM.  He would be under the cloud of yet uncertain NCAA penalties.  He have to contend with a resurgent UM, led by a dynamic AD and young, hungry, highly motivated coach, who once helped UM to a national title, as well as with the more senior, former defensive coordinator of the Ravens.  He will likely compete with a Senior, Heisman frontrunner as the UM QB.

Faced with such challenges, Myer by contrast, would clearly be saddled with a mediocre team in transition and with an injury-prone Soph QB.  He would have to answer to the completely unrealistic expectations from a lunatic fanbase, who think that he should outdo Tresell.  He would be matched against the illusory glory of a guy needed to cheat to continue winning.

In fact, a healthy Meyer couldn't even beat UM with Tim Tebow as his QB.  So good luck.  Don't count on this physcially damaged, stress-intolerant man, being any savior.  Fame is fleeting and his name recognition does not ensure success---in fact, it may lead to the very opposite.  My guess is that he is far less hungry and motivated than he once was.  He may look back with nostalgia about past successes only to find that his best days are behind him.

And if his-past history indicates erratic decisions, he would hardly promote a secure future for OSU players or recruits.  Indeed, he is reported by some to have accepted the OSU job, but also has apparently said he is now debating whether to come to OSU in the first place.  If he doesn't, or if he accepts and then leaves shortly thereafter, then--like Kurelic says--we'll see another meltdown. Except it won't be in Ann Arbor.  It'll be in Columbus
