OT: Best tattoo shop/ artists in Michigan

Submitted by SagNasty on
I am thinking of getting some new ink done and wanted to get some opinions on who does the best work in Michigan. I have no problem traveling to different parts of the state to get a quality tattoo. So who are some of the best artists in Michigan? Feel free to post any pics also.

I don't know about better, but I've heard the tattoo parlors in Columbus are cheaper and you can pay for them with tiny pants.

I have a tattoo on my arm. Was fairly uncomfortable to get, painful in parts (inner arm) but ultimately not that big a deal. I don't even want to think of how high/drunk I'd have to be to bear the pain of having a tattoo needle digging into my upper lip.

You're going to get a lot of snark no matter what, but you may have a little better luck if you give some idea what you're looking for. Do you want something with a lot of detail? Are you looking for watercolor? Etc. Who is the best is going to really depend on what you want done.

Bitching about getting seperate checks; questions about area tattoo shops; info about a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in Lansing.

The last few threads are the purest evidence you can find that we have hit peak offseason.

While I don't have any myself, I will say that my wife (who has several) has had nothing except excellent work done at Eternal Tattoos in Livonia. The place has been in business for about 35 years and has five branch locations, but they do some excellent work and she has nothing but good things to say about them.

Got my first tat from Tramp at Eternal in 1991. Of my 3, this one has stood the test of time the best. Victor Locke is also very good. He was operating out of Plymouth. Not sure if he is still there. I will be doing my fourth and final tat sometime in the next two years. When I lived in Oxford Ohio, I did an ankle wrap around maize and blue block MICHIGAN but honestly that was the worst artist of the three. I should have done that one in Michigan.
