OT: Best tailgating music?

Submitted by Helloheisman on

As we near the upcoming season I always use the weekend before to brush off my tailgating gear and make sure everything is in good shape. Just wanted to get the Mgoblog community's take on some good tailgating music while a make a new play list for this year.

Being that 2011 is the year of J-LO, I'd probably bump some of her new stuff.  On the Floor, Hypnotico, Papi are all probably top 25 songs of all time.

Akon is the greatest artist of all time (he never misses), some other good options are Ke$ha and Eminem.

That's not live. That is just a studio recording with the autotune removed.

KE$HA is a no talent ass clown that is only popular for her 36C's. If you can't with sing without autotune you have no right calling yourself a singer or a musician.

I'm usually driving to AA from Grand Rapids, so WTKA is off the table for the first couple of hours (not to mention the fact that their damn tune in radio station doesn't ever fricking work). This brings me to my more obscure, yet heartwarming, mix of muzak.

  • The Dear Hunter: Act II. Everything on this album is amazing, especially Red Hands.
  • Handsome: Self-titled. Voted one of Alternative Press Best Unknown Bands of the 90's
  • Project 86: Drawing Black Lines. Good for rivalry games.
  • Muse: The Resistance. Everything this band does is damn near genius.
  • Jay-Z: The Black Album. Everyone needs to respect the guy holding Beyonce's purse.
  • Random Free Beer and Hot Wings Morning Show podcasts. They keep the mood light and the laughs rolling.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    *Hopefully you check this stuff out. YouTube anything by The Dear Hunter. You won't be disappointed. Go Blue!

I love putting my credit card in the internet jukebox at Ashley's and filling it with the Smiths, New Order, Public Enemy, Talking Heads, Front 242, Depeche Mode, Eric B. & Rakim, Beasties, Run DMC, REM and so on.

you have enough songs that repeats don't happen.  When I tailgated for the Big Chill game, there was a car that had Kid Rock's "Born Free" on a loop.  I like Kid Rock and that was right when the song came out, I could never listen to it again.  I was SO sick of that song after that...

dude, anyone asking for music advice really needs to give, say, five song examples just so we're in the right ballpark.  There is a wide range of music.  Narrow it down a little.
