OT: Best tailgating music?

Submitted by Helloheisman on

As we near the upcoming season I always use the weekend before to brush off my tailgating gear and make sure everything is in good shape. Just wanted to get the Mgoblog community's take on some good tailgating music while a make a new play list for this year.

Of course any upbeat, "rock jams" type music is good to get the party started. But, I think you always need to through in some Ufer to keep it real....

One week boys!

I converted that as well and put it on my "Tailgate CD", this along with Bo's Team Speech, and a quick little 13 second run down of Brad Nessler's "Touchdown Manningham!, MIchigan Wins!", that always gets people going, also randomly start the CD off with Dewey Oxburger introducing himself from Stripes.

Actual songs I recommend would be Welcome to the Show by Saliva and Especially in Michigan by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and you can never go wrong with any AC/DC song.

of course I knew what I was going to hear, but I had to click it anyway.  Damn that never gets old and still gives me goosebumps to hear Ufer's voice crack as AC breaks that tackles and heads to the endzone.

Definitely agree!  Whatever you choose, add this (and a few other calls) after ever few songs.

I'm sitting in Korea but damn! would I love to be sitting at a good tailgate, listening to good tunes and UFER calls while eating USA tailgate food and drinking Honey Brown bear.  Fuck it, I'd be smoking American Spirits cigarettes probably too.  Screw my health.

On the type of tailgating you are trying to achieve and how much of a party you want it to be... music choice is therefore crucial to the overall atmosphere and what you are trying to accomplish.

I like Simon and Garfunkel for atmosphere purposes.

Never been a fan of "pump up" music.  Always thought the occasion should be sufficient for thymos purposes.  Clarity of mind is more important if you're an athlete IMHE (at least that was my experience in high school).

And for tailgating - it's Saturday! Time to relax.

I think as long as you are playing generally good rocking music you are pretty safe, heck get Jerry Sprague to play your tailgate, thats the best solution, we have done it the last few years.

But for the love of god dont do this, and then post it on the internet, embarrassing your university for all eternity:

What is the point of starting this thread? Are you so incapable of making a decision that you need the help of a bunch of random strangers on the internet to help you decide what fucking music  to listen to? Dude make a decision and go with it. If you have enough booze the music won't matter anyways.
