As we near the upcoming season I always use the weekend before to brush off my tailgating gear and make sure everything is in good shape. Just wanted to get the Mgoblog community's take on some good tailgating music while a make a new play list for this year.
OT: Best tailgating music?
Of course any upbeat, "rock jams" type music is good to get the party started. But, I think you always need to through in some Ufer to keep it real....
One week boys!
and it is amazing!
I converted that as well and put it on my "Tailgate CD", this along with Bo's Team Speech, and a quick little 13 second run down of Brad Nessler's "Touchdown Manningham!, MIchigan Wins!", that always gets people going, also randomly start the CD off with Dewey Oxburger introducing himself from Stripes.
Actual songs I recommend would be Welcome to the Show by Saliva and Especially in Michigan by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and you can never go wrong with any AC/DC song.
of course I knew what I was going to hear, but I had to click it anyway. Damn that never gets old and still gives me goosebumps to hear Ufer's voice crack as AC breaks that tackles and heads to the endzone.
Definitely agree! Whatever you choose, add this (and a few other calls) after ever few songs.
I'm sitting in Korea but damn! would I love to be sitting at a good tailgate, listening to good tunes and UFER calls while eating USA tailgate food and drinking Honey Brown bear. Fuck it, I'd be smoking American Spirits cigarettes probably too. Screw my health.
I prefer wtka and their countdown to kickoff show.
The Bob Ufer CD's are incredible too, perfect for early morning tailgate.
Bob Ufer all the way. Why even bother with anything else?
I love hearing wtka on the way to AA before a game. Listening to Sam, Ira and all the drunk people in the bud light victors lounge get me fired up.
On the type of tailgating you are trying to achieve and how much of a party you want it to be... music choice is therefore crucial to the overall atmosphere and what you are trying to accomplish.

Throw in a little long beach dub/sublime and I'm there!
Tremendous mix, lots of different genres there.
This list is awesome. Appeals to many audiences and there are a lot of recognizable songs. Props to you good sir.
My OCD-ness went bonkers when you went from "artist - track name" to "track name - artist" and then back again throughout. haha
I think as long as you are playing generally good rocking music you are pretty safe, heck get Jerry Sprague to play your tailgate, thats the best solution, we have done it the last few years.
But for the love of god dont do this, and then post it on the internet, embarrassing your university for all eternity:
Damn that's some funny shit. I say zone out to whatever your genre of music you and your buddies listen to and flow with it.

I feel less of a man watching that whole video. Why is there a rebel flag in the background in the state of Pennsylvania?
I hear there is a new song by Pop Evil...
I don't think it will make the cut... The UMMB has enough classics to run that one off the play list...
Duh...Poison's Nothin but a good time!
The music in this is horrendous, but lloyd brady is @ 2:02 wearing a garret revis jersey, which makes it all the better...
I tailgate to one song and one song only, "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas. It's provocative and it gets the people going.
Let's never hang out
I don't even know what that means...
Someone's watching the throne.
Ball so hard mothafuckas wanna fine me
That shit cray, that shit cray
That sound paired with "Hollaback Girl" on repeat is the Grand Unification Theory Incarnate
"Hey Love Crusader I want to be your space invader" I converted this to MP3 just for $hi#s and giggles
That's a damn good album.
Red Hot Chili Peppers for sure.
Red Hot Chili Peppers for sure.
Agreeing with DarkBlue, under any circumstance, leads to being 'flamebaited'
Just add a Marlin Jackson throwback and get ready to pick out baby names in 9 months.
GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!! What else we got? lmao
Obviousely Thunder Struck.
NWA - Straight Outta Compton
Being that 2011 is the year of J-LO, I'd probably bump some of her new stuff. On the Floor, Hypnotico, Papi are all probably top 25 songs of all time.
Akon is the greatest artist of all time (he never misses), some other good options are Ke$ha and Eminem.
Your reccomendations are probably why your post is hidden.
Just shows how dumb people are for not appreciating good music.
anything is going to sound worse live. Funny how you didn't pick her studio stuff, which is ultra-elite. It makes you feel good and it sounds good, which are the two main criteria for good music.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Death to Autotune.
This guy thinks Akon is the best of all time ... maybe he thinks these people can naturally make robot voices. That would be impressive, if they could.... just sayin'
Thanks for making my point. Not quite eloquently (I'd rather listen to chipmunks grinding their nails on a chalkboard) but effectively.
You won't be playing any Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Velvet Underground.....nothing like that then, eh? Not even, say, Human League or Talk Talk? Was Not Was?
I have a few led zeppelin and I have Pink floyd Have a cigar and Money
I'm usually driving to AA from Grand Rapids, so WTKA is off the table for the first couple of hours (not to mention the fact that their damn tune in radio station doesn't ever fricking work). This brings me to my more obscure, yet heartwarming, mix of muzak.
- The Dear Hunter: Act II. Everything on this album is amazing, especially Red Hands.
- Handsome: Self-titled. Voted one of Alternative Press Best Unknown Bands of the 90's
- Project 86: Drawing Black Lines. Good for rivalry games.
- Muse: The Resistance. Everything this band does is damn near genius.
- Jay-Z: The Black Album. Everyone needs to respect the guy holding Beyonce's purse.
- Random Free Beer and Hot Wings Morning Show podcasts. They keep the mood light and the laughs rolling. *Hopefully you check this stuff out. YouTube anything by The Dear Hunter. You won't be disappointed. Go Blue!
greatest hits albums along with some state radio and dispatch mixed in would be my playlist of choice
naturally, Built to Spill, American Football, Pedro the Lion, Brand New, Manchester Orchestra, etc.
I like to get things started with a little bit of this.
I love putting my credit card in the internet jukebox at Ashley's and filling it with the Smiths, New Order, Public Enemy, Talking Heads, Front 242, Depeche Mode, Eric B. & Rakim, Beasties, Run DMC, REM and so on.
Ever play New Order's cover of "Ceremony?" That's a fantastic song.
Yeah, that's on the Substance CD. Although I don't know if it's technically a cover since New Order is Joy Division less Ian Curtis.
The War on Drugs and Washed Out...no, those are just awesome bands. Probably not appropriate for tailgating, unless you're high.
you have enough songs that repeats don't happen. When I tailgated for the Big Chill game, there was a car that had Kid Rock's "Born Free" on a loop. I like Kid Rock and that was right when the song came out, I could never listen to it again. I was SO sick of that song after that...
with the speakers pointed toward the Big House. Michigan loves Slayer.
You Lift Me Up. Kidding of course but I think Detroit rock city needs to make the list
Did not like the movie honestly, but I am a huge Daft Punk fan and I own the soundtrack.
dude, anyone asking for music advice really needs to give, say, five song examples just so we're in the right ballpark. There is a wide range of music. Narrow it down a little.
As long as good drinks are flowing, anything works for me. My only required song is Phish doing Gin and Juice.
Why are half of these comments in bold? Or is that just my computer?
Someone's html code went retarded.
80's metal FTW
A little bit of W.A.S.P., Poison, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden. Music everyone can fall in love to.
