OT: Best Public Bathroom at UM?

Submitted by Shaqsquatch on
So, out of boredom in the offseason, I figured now would be a good time to start a poll as to which public bathroom at UM is the best. Criteria to consider: -Cleanliness -Accessibility -Privacy -Wittiness of Graffiti -Intangibles My first place vote goes to the Chem Building atrium. -Cleanliness: A resounding meh, it's not Angell Hall or Ugli level disgusting, but it's not USB level polished, either. -Accessibility: Very high, right in the center of the Chem Building. -Privacy: Not too great, but its not near the creepiness level of the 4th floor Science Library bathrooms. -Wittiness of Graffiti: The best. While East Hall has some good math jokes, nothing can match one of the stalls in this bathroom. For about a full year two years back, there was a game of Scrabble taking place on the tiles of the wall, that ended up spanning the entire wall. In addition, I've seen graffiti about organic molecues, and a giant portrait of Gordon Freeman. After this portrait was painted over, this appeared in its place: -Intangibles: I spend half my life in the Chem Building, so this bathroom holds a special place in my heart. Close Runner-Up: Secret Faculty Locker Room in the IMSB. Although it might not fall into the public department, as you need a key to access the locker room, it has unmatched levels of privacy and cleanliness. So, what do you guys think?

The best public bathroom thread. Now, we have reached a level that would make Scout and Rivals boards seem eloquent and thoughtful. And exactly WHY do you need to know this? Public bathrooms are notorious places for.......

No one goes in the Space Research Building, and if you hit the restrooms in the back hallway by the faculty offices on the second floor, there's usually good reading material. Biker's World, Sports Illustrated, The Atlantic, Sky & Telescope. I consider this a win.

IIRC the weirdest bathroom was the one in the computer lab in the basement of the Union (not the Tapp room). It wasn't even on the same level of the lab's floor, it was about 1.5 feet above. Maybe it was left over from when the swimming pool was there. I think it was also really cramped inside. Also, the bathroom in front of the elevators on the 1st floor of the Grad Library was horrible. It was so cramped inside that you couldn't even wash without getting some pee on yourself. Fun times!

That bathroom has a light above the outside of the door that you can turn on and off from inside--IIRC by pulling on a cord or a switch. It looks like it was to get help when it maybe had another use in the past. It cracked us up when my friend discovered it during a late-night programming session in that lab.

Stamps is new, and sparkling clean. Oosterbaan, however not public they might be, are way up there for me. My worst? CSE building right off the lobby. You have to wonder if some toilets are specifically designed to be capable of handling large volumes of Panda Express.

Back in the 80's, few students ever stepped foot inside of Rackham so it was a great place to use the bathroom - always clean, empty and warm! It also has a nice reference room on the second floor to study (if you're looking for a new place).

In HH Dow, there is a stall where someone wrote "Best position (with diagram)" and someone drew up the offensive side a football play and pointed to the RB and added "especially when Brandon Minor is healthy" I also am a fan of one of the ones in EECS, I think, that says "Fuck sharks"

4th floor of the Union in the hallway with the student group offices, or the School of Public Health (the new building). The SPH bathrooms are just plain fancy. For throwback and variety, I would also submit the bathrooms in the basement of the Grad. I feel like George Costanza right now... Another piece of pie here!

I'm a fan of the first floor EECS building bathroom. Lots of stalls and urinals, abundant, witty programming/engineering jokes, and quite possibly the nicest faucets on campus. They have a high, curved spout with two hot/cold handles and water that's always warm. My bathroom of choice.

The worst is the restroom in the basement of the Law Library Reading Room. They could clean the minute before you go in, and the 80 years of smoke fumes coating everything makes it look like a filthy gas station crapper. You can see it was really really nice once---in 1932.
