OT: Ben Affleck Schadenfreude (re Batman v Superman)
I have not seen Batman Vs Superman. I have no opinion regarding how Zack Snyder may or may not have ruined the movie. However, I do have an irrational dislike of Ben Affleck and enjoyed this video of him having a sad immensely. If you are a jerk like me, enjoy. Or discuss the movie, whether or not you will/have seen it, etc. NO SPOILERS!!!
I haven't seen the film yet, but that clip is hilarious.
During the movie previews, the director asked us not to give out any spoilers, so I won't. Only because he asked so nicely.
I am not a Ben Affleck fan, but I did like him in this role. He was moody enough to play Batman. The dude had some serious muscle mass, too. Plus all the cool Batman toys.
I love anything that Jeremy Irons does and he played Alfred very well. Huge man-crush here, similar to what many on this blog have with Harbaugh.
I liked the movie! They did a really good job developing the reason for the hate between Batman and Superman. And the twist that brings about the fight. Like all movies that are made for sequels, this one teases out what we all know from the comic books. This is the next movie:
I also saw the movie last night and I totally disagree with almost everything you said. Affleck was decent but Zack Snyder has completely shit the bed shepherding the DC movie franchise.
Affleck made Cavill look like a cardboard cutout. What a terrible Superman. Don't even get me started on the shitty casting for Lex Luthor.
Eisenberg played Lex Luthor better in his role in Social Network than he does in this movie. What horrible writing/acting.
Goyer and Snyder are garbage. DC is screwed if they keep them. Now I see why Nolan left as producer. He knew Snyder ruined Superman as a character and now Snyder killed Batman's entire premise. Smh.
One of the first times I've ever agreed with everything in one of your posts.
My brother in law's college roommate married Jennifer Garner's best friend a couple of years ago.
They let the couple use their Bel Air (?) estate for the wedding. It was a two day affair that my brother in law attended.
He met Ben/Jen and said they were extremely polite and down to earth (at least over the two days he saw them). They let people walk around the house, met their kids, etc.
They did ask people not to go around taking pictures and such, but he did get to touch the oscar for Good Will Hunting. It was actually the time Affleck was working out to get in shape for his Batman role.
That being said, the reason I think some people thing Ben can be a douche is how political he appers to be.
I think Ben is probably a nice guy, I just don't find him to be a great actor. however, I did like him in Dazed and Confused,
That movie sounds familiar for some reason.
Hasn't pretty much everyone said that affleck's performance was the best part of the movie?
It was, but the movie still blew.
there is a low-bar ringing endorsement right there.
That and the only character in the entire run so far (MoS and BvS) done justice is Wonder Woman
Tougher than Superman for sure.
...he doesn't seem so bad as people go.
that isn't even a question. Polarizing as an actor, but every one of his films as a director is excellent.
Yeah, he's fairly easy to hate on but have to agree about his directorial abilities.
He seems like a fine person, but cheating on your wife with the nanny always rubbed me the wrong way. I'm sure he's not the worst person in terms of Hollywood superstars, but he seems like a guy who definitely reads his press clippings.

in Gone Girl...helluva movie!
I'll admit that was pretty funny, but why does everyone hate Ben Affleck so much? He's had a hand in some of my favorite movies. Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone, The Town come to mind. Just don't get why people are constantly shitting on him.
In my case it's not hate towards Ben, it's the idea of Ben Affleck as Batman.
He was ATROCIOUS as DareDevil, who used to be one of my favorite heroes. After the Affleck Abortion, I don't like the character anymore.
When you lay an egg THAT BAD, getting a shot to play one of the most iconic heroes in history....well, it makes no sense.
Netflix and you'll love him again
With that logic Chris Evans should have never been cast as Captain America based in his Human Torch performance in the mid 90's fantastic 4.
I just saw B v S, Ben Affleck is one of the very few redeeming qualities. Lay off him.
I didn't like Captain America at all, and it is mostly due to Chris Evans. He isn't the worst, but I just don't find the guy to be a great actor. I also don't really like the Avengers, I find them all quite dull. On the other hand, I am loving the Netflix Daredevil show, and enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy a ton. I saw B V S last night. It wasn't the worst or the best thing ever, it was just ok. A little too long for me. But Affleck was pretty damn good as Batman.
I thought the first half was a pretty interesting whodunit. As the second half got rolling, I thought this is freakin' great! Rosamund Pike was outstanding. And Affleck was good too.
You are probably thinking of Gone Girl. Gone Baby Gone is co-written and directed by Affleck but he isn't in the movie. His brother Casey plays the main character and Amy Adams nabbed a best supporting actress nomination for her performance. It is very well done and I recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it.
I was thinking of Gone Girl. But I did see Gone Baby Gone too, and I really liked it.
I think you're confused. Amy Adams is not in Gone Baby Gone...
We'll nail this down eventually.
sure it's not Meg Ryan?
You're all way off. I'm sure it was Ryan Adams. What are we talking about again?
I'm Batman.
It was the Summer of '69!!
that's that guy from the Eagles
I was thinking "Sum of All Fears," where Ben Affleck plays Jack Ryan

It is actually Rob Ryan. You guys really need IMDB.

Ah fuck it all.
Plus epic cameos in Dazed and Confused and Mallrats.
O'Bannion single-handedly made me afraid of high school...
I do think it was those 2 teen cult classics that cemented him as the douche you love to hate. He just did it so well in both those early movies it's hard to imagine him any other way. He's been a great actor in some great movies, but admittedly that's kinda offset by being in some really, REALLY terrible movies.
I think he best work was in the 5 minutes he appeared in Boiler Room. His scenes get me jack-hammered up.
I loved Matt Damon and him in Dogma.
I loved Matt Damon and him in Dogma.
Ben Affleck has a lot to be sad about. I would be disappointed if my relationship with Jennifer Garner were ending, too.
Have you ever seen how she behaves outside of her acting roles? I saw an interview with her a few years ago where could have been mistaken for a 15-year-old girl.
Plus, as hot Hollywood starlets go, Jennifer Garner is about a 6. She is the cute friend-type, not the hot leading lady.
she's the type you marry and with whom you raise a family.
Hell no. You can have both so why not?

I feel like Scarlett Johansson would make a pretty great wife... all I ask is for the opportunity to proove it.
And if she's acting immature or bitchy you just give her a good spanking to sort her out.
She's awesome. Although not as awesome as Olivia Munn, who's a legit submissive freak.
