A dollar says if they rebuild they'll become the largest stadium.

At which point the South End Zone expansion suddenly becomes feasible...

Good thing we don't have this problem and how the hell do you not build it to last? Aren't the upper decks only like 40 years old?
August 14th, 2015 at 11:30 AM ^
Ask every single professonal sports franchise that "needs" a new stadium every 20 years at taxpayer expense.
August 14th, 2015 at 11:30 AM ^
our administration addressed it by rebuilding almost the entire stadium structure over the last 10 years. Maybe you haven't noticed?
August 14th, 2015 at 12:15 PM ^
Not sure what you are referring to. Michigan Stadium is a giant concrete bowl built mostly below ground not a freestanding, 80 ft tall steel structure that could collapse. The renovations were mostly just to add luxury boxes.

In their construction of Ohio Stadium, they followed a design pattern that's solid, proven, and typically lasts for years.

I went there when we were at Pegula and was surprised how crappy their stadium looks. Reminded me of Virginia Tech's too. Just a mess of steel on the outside. Looks awful
I suppose I'm spoiled by Michigan Stadium. I just expect all these stadiums to look as beautiful on the outside as the do on the inside. But then again, there's nothing like the Big House

I've never been there, so cannot speak about experience. I do like their stadium, though. The white out looks awesome, especially for night games. I wonder if they will build a completely new stadium or just renovate; I'm assuming the latter.

The thing is a mess. Ohio Stadium looks better, and that place is shaped like a toilet seat.
August 14th, 2015 at 11:37 AM ^
I guess I don't understand what is so bad about it.
August 14th, 2015 at 12:23 PM ^
So you're suggesting that Penn State should let the coin decide?
August 14th, 2015 at 5:32 PM ^
It looks like a cheap, huge, COLLEGE football stadium. It's awesome that Michigan's endowment and donors and revenue allows for the Big House but I don't think every major college program needs some fancy pro-caliber stadium. Penn State is a solid state school for middle class kids. Burning a billion dollars on a new stadium, when the current one seems to do the job just fine, seems really absurd. Especially when you consider how many middle class families are drowning in student debt right now. Terrible optics.

So the thing you like about their stadium (how the people inside it dress) has nothing to do with their stadium. You know that, right?
You know what I like about Michigan Stadium? When the band plays The Victors.

I never knew that beavers had stadiums until this thread title.
Edit: Nevermind. Found one.

This is actually what the ediface of their upper decks look like.

Dam beavers.
August 14th, 2015 at 11:28 AM ^
The endzone seats look so out of place. It's like they added them just because they could. The stadium needs some major updates, but at this point they might as well build new.
August 14th, 2015 at 11:29 AM ^
Maybe they should add another upper-deck
