MUST!  Some times you just have to step up and take it to another level!  I HAVE TAUGHT MY KIDS:  The one that plays smarter and wants it more (all other things being equal) will 9 times out of 10 WIN!

"wanting it more" doesn't do crap against someone who's more talented than you.  There's something I am very, very good at, pretty much from birth and without trying particularly hard (at least until I got older and got to a level where everyone else was just as talented, and then I quit).  But anyways, flash back to this competition at age 11 or 12, and I'm not trying and kicking the butt of these guys, and the coach is giving the "trying harder and wanting it more" speech, and I overhear and say "hey, coach, your guys are trying way harder than me, and they want it more, but I can still beat them even though I don't really like doing this, how does that feel".

I got in a TON of trouble for trashtalking like that, but it totally worked.  We were in their dome and our team smoked them for the rest of the tournament.

You take a shot at ESPN but the stuff on Grantland is way better. That was a puff piece that seems written by a publicist.
