OT: Beatles Producer George Martin passes
This is OT but surely there are some Beatles and music fans here. Sir George Martin passed away at the age of 90. George was the perfect producer for the Beatles and worked with many other legendary acts as well. Ive always had a great admiration for George. He was a man of talent, wisdom and had the tactful ability to pull out the best from talented artists.
So many musical legends have been lost this year already... That era of music is long gone but has left us with so many tremendous songs, still being enjoyed by millions today.

I think you're missing a very important word in your thread title.
"Dies"
But yeah, he was truly a legendary producer in many ways.
Very very sad to hear. Such a huge contributor to music, movies, books and a genre itself. 30 #1 singles in the UK, 23 in the US. Man was a legend.
I will admit though, when I first read the news online I thought of the author (George RR Martin) and my heart sank. As if the Winds of Winter wait wasn't stressing me out enough!
Brilliant stuff. This kind of recording with the orchestra tracking in the same room as the singer (who is in the booth) is rarely done these days unfortunately.

before he finished the damn books!
Some of his best handiwork:
It was his idea to put a string quartet on McCartney's "Yesterday".....
A family friend one time was on the Concorde sitting next to Jimmy Paige and gets up the nerve to ask him a question. "I'm a huge Beatle fan, and I was wondering what you thought was the secret to their outsized success." Paige responded, "We had a pretty good band back then you may have heard of, The Yardbirds. The difference between all of us and the Beatles was George Martin."
