WBB Coach Kim Mulkey has an interesting take

Restoring the school’s reputation has been an emotional task for employees, such as women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey, who was criticized for a remark that was deemed tone-deaf. After she won her 500th game as a head coach, and while standing at the center of the basketball arena, Mulkey told fans: “If somebody’s around you and they ever say, ‘I will never send my daughter to Baylor,’ you knock them right in the face.”

Hey, Coach Mulkey.  I would never send my daughter to Baylor.  It's because your school has a history of enabling rape and covering it up.

At least 52 rapes by 31 football players.  It wouldn't surprise me if they were keeping score.  Did you get a 1/2 point for a gang-bang?  Sorta like half a sack?

Not at all to bring religion into this, but for a school that claims to abide by good Christian values, when the chips are down they actually embrace none of them. Not a criticism of the religion itself, but rather a criticism of the hypocrites who claim to live by it.

The morality of the situation aside, you can always be fired for bringing embarrassment to your employer. This is doubly or triply true for the predicament Baylor is in and you're imminently replaceable middle management. So yes, he was (rightly) fired for bringing further shame to the school. You know, assuming Baylor as an institution is actually capable of shame.
