not even close...so much more on the line, never happened before in history...that was bad

Of course, this is worse. Look up "Schadenfreude" in the dictionary, and you'll see a photo of a guy in Yankees pinstripes hanging his head in defeated shame.

Truly a great day to hate the Red Sox

All ten fans sticking around the Trop after the win.
Nice fanbase.

The eight highest-paid players from last year are all gone. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year. A month ago, most people had written this team off. It even looked like they might dump a lot of vets at the trading deadline and start over. Luckily for the Rays, they were a "victim" of their own success. No GM wanted to be the guy who traded a future star or stars to the Rays for a player who didn't hold up his end of the bargain.
Either the Rays comback and Red Sox collapse would be stunning by itself. For both to happen simultaneously, ending with the Rays winning the wild card berth in extra innings on the last day of the season, mere minutes after Boston blows a ninth-inning lead, is one of the least-likely occurances I have ever seen in sports.
There are a lot of fans in various states of disbelief in two cities right now.

Wow. Whatever, GO TIGERS

For posterity, us Braves fans are currently contemplating the meaning of life and whether or not it's worth living. Early returns suggest it's not. #schadenfreude

Didn't the Mets have a similar collapse, except twice in a row? What is it with that division?

better than being a Cubs fan ;)

If the Tigers beat the Yanks, this will be the greatest baseball season of all time. Well, for me personally at least.
- Red Sox have monumental collapse
- Good to see teams like the Dbacks, Brewers, and Rays in the playoffs
- Tigers win first division title since '87
Pretty memorable for me at least.

That Tampa Bay has such a small fan base right about now.

Seriously. They've got a good young team right now and the future looks bright. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised to see them relocated.

probably looking forward to facing a floundering Boston team. Now they get to face a hot Rays staff.
