IMO, it's time for ESPN to stop bringing the issue up. Everyone is aware that Barry Bonds used steroids, but Barry obviously is not going to admit anything while the case is still ongoing. I wish ESPN would go back to covering just sporting events, not "sports news".

Lest the questioning get out of hand.
While Bonds didn't rule out also going into coaching one day, his six-minute session with the media was stopped after the question about McGwire.

It sounds like the interviewer got like 3 minutes of Bonds' time and alighted on the obvious irony of a throwaway comment. Wheeeeee. Personally, I liked the following a lot more: "It goes by quick. The sports world eventually comes to an end. Your body can only do so much. Just be grateful for the time you have." It sounds like he knew the thing he loved most was going to be taken away from him.

there's no context and no comparison other than to his teenage self. he probably used, but this is hardly proof. undoubtedly he was trying to get big, but there are plenty of huge athletic dudes who don't use steroids. not to mention he was probably well aware that guys who hit home runs get paid more than guys who don't. there weren't a ton of defensive stats being thrown around in 1998.

They weren't even against the rules when most of these guys did them, anyway. They weren't considered "cheating" until the media pronounced it so and some politicians decided it would help them get a few votes. The playing field was level when everyone was doing them and the playing field is level now that they aren't. That's good enough for me. Play ball.
