Caught a few videos of this insane japanese sport...it basically turns into a brawl, and from what I gather the object is for the one team to protect/stay on top of the pole.....watch and enjoy...

***having trouble embedding the video....here is the link BAO TAOSHI

... the closest I could come to writing a rule book would be:

1)      Get a pole and a bunch of guys in white, blue and red shirts.

2)      Put diapers on everyone’s head

3)      Blow a whistle

4)      ??????

5)      Blow a whistle 3 minutes after the first whistle

Are there 4 teams? What was up with the team wearing red at the beginning? I'm assuming they were going after another pole or whatever it was, but I'm really not sure what the hell I just watched.

i watched another video and it looks like there are 2 teams and each teamhas a white group of pole defenders.

im guessing if they had red defenders and attackers they could play offense and defense depending on how either side is going during the whole chaos.

this way a red attacker can only attack.

Interesting.  At some point half of them lost their shirts.  At that point, how could you tell which team that guy was on?  They need to paint themselves.

I believe this should be played the week of the Sparty game.  Let the MSU coeds defend Sparty that way, as a horde of UM students try to climb the statue.

Think about if we had current or former Michigan players fly over and start a team. Like Chris Perry sprinting directly at you or Lamarr Woodley trying to climb up you.

I've already watched it three times, although, I think I actually understand it less each time...
