After watching the second video clip, I dare say he fully expected to be on one of those buses.  I think from this point forward I will call him Lane "Mike D'iantoni" Kiffin.  Serves his smug ass right, too.

If you had read the article, or even done an ounce of research after reading that click-bait-y blog, you would have seen that it was none of the things you mentioned with the exception that Kiffin ended up riding with Saban in an Escalade on the way home

To want another shot as a HC in the NFL or NCAA would simply be to satisfy his ego (he has already proven he can't do it)....I can't understand watning to leave one of the best (if not the best) OC jobs in the nation, could he possibly be in line to take the HC job when Saban retires? Is there already another long time Saban guy being groomed? You know Bama is going to treat him well, his gameplan last night was on point, his TE had 4 catches and a run for close to 200 yards of offense...Why would you want to work anywhere else? You're going to be making CFP runs every year, essentially every other year Alabama wins the Championship....the guy is sitting on the Powerball and wants to leave to play scratch offs? Makes no sense.

i can't see another big program giving Kiffin a shot as a head coach. That said, I would have thought the same of Will Muschamp and he's gotten a job, so who knows.

Per ESPN, this story did have a "happy ending", in their words - from their article:

After wandering around the stadium, Kiffin returned and entered a vehicle, which just happened to be waiting for Alabama coach Nick Saban as he was wrapping up his postgame interviews.

So, he may have missed the bus by mistake, but it always helps to tag along with the coach who, well, missed the bus by design (obviously, the buses would not hang around until next Thursday for the postgame interviews to end).

Schools of that football quality are the only ones desperate enough to hire him as a HC. Monte should have a father-son chat and explain it's OK to be a career coordinator if that is your peak of ability. It's better to be a career coordinator than a multiple time failed HC...unless you are Charlie Weiss.

Man I can't stand this guy.  I was really hoping he would not win while he was at Alabama or wherever he goes for that matter.  I liked him better when I was able to see Saban yell at him on the sideline.
