OT- Bad refs

Submitted by meals69 on
Whoever has this crew playing in their fantasy refs league this week is cleaning up. Unfortunately i started the crew working the Toledo v. Purdue game.

The refs didn't have anything to do with the pathetic meltdowns by the defense.  We have bigger shit to worry about, because clearly last week was no fluke defensively, and apparently no one has any desire to back up Craig Roh's words.

True, but in the game today the bad refs have really screwed with our Offense. The two 1st half TD's for BGSU wouldn't be such a big deal with we had the 35 pts on the board we should have.

If you're a HS ref (I am as well), you should know that these refs are actually damn good at their jobs.  Are they having a great day?  Maybe not, but they are a B10 crew for a reason - you don't get there by sitting on your ass and watching TV.

The white hat is being sloppy for some reason, but I can only point to one blown call (the "below the waist" chop block).

They've nailed the goalline plays and the PIs.  It just looks worse because the R is being terribly sloppy.

What were your thoughts on the defenseless player call?  Although it's going to be speculation since we never saw it, I don't see how a lineman hitting a player before the whistle can be a penalty.  Unless it was a block in the back, but that wouldn't be an illegal block in the back call.

That's the thing, we didn't see it and ESPN's awesome producers didn't show us a replay.  Molk could have hit a guy in the back and the end of the play that was just standing there.  For all we know it was a legit call.

From my experience, if you're going to call that it's probably pretty obvious, so I'd give the refs the benefit of the doubt on that one.

Gotchya.  I get a little defensive with people criticizing refs because they don't realize how much work goes into it and they don't always get the nice clear view that video replays and big HD tvs give us at home.

Then again, when I'm at Crisler I don't think twice about yelling at Ed Hightower, so who am I to talk?

We have gotten poor refs every game this year.  The other team is able to hold us every play and never get called for it.  I'm getting tired of incapable refs.  We're fine regardless but jesus dick these crews are terrible.

Hitting a defensless player.  If he is on the field, he is fair game as long as its not in the back or near the helmet.  If he is on the field, nock the shit out of him, he should be prepared...this is a battlefield!

Obviously, Junior F'ed up by dropping that beautifully thrown bomb by Gardner, but didn't the BG defender commit pretty blatant PI as he was falling down? I was VERY surprised that nothing was called on that play.

Poor Devin...Junior drops an easy TD and on the same drive Molk commits a personal foul to wipe away a 2nd great TD pass. Devin has looked very good throwing the ball and surprisingly "meh" running it.
