OT - Babwatch 2015

Submitted by FormAFarkingWall on

Looks like a bidding war has ensued between Buffalo and Toronto, who appeared out of the running as late as yesterday.  Wings final offer is firm at 5 years, 20 million.  Buffalo and Toronto said to be in the 65 million total range, with 6.5/year thrown around.

Safe to say that Babcock is likely gone at this point unless he REALLY loves Detroit.

Swear to God I thought this thread was about the Bab.

On topic, I was really rooting for Buffalo. The city is undergoing what passes for a Renaissance there, and it would have been great to see Babcock wind up there.

Ken Holland and Mike Babcock always talk about their strong relationship, should us Wings fans be concerned that Toronto is a package deal for both?

it came down to ego. but hubris can be a bitch. I guarantee the Red Wings will have a better winning percentage and more Cups than the Leafs over the next 8 years. Godspeed, Mike. Enjoy working for those governors and Shanny and no scouting department or talent pool for those extra Timbits.
