OT - Auto Traffic and Ann Arbor Marathon

Thanks for the reminder. It was a bit of a pain trying to make my commute to work last year with the marathon.
Is this your first?
Under its FAQs the race website lists estimated peak obstruction times. Be mindful those represent mere projections and there is an after-party, so I expect there will be pockets of obstruction until after 4 p.m. as runners attempt to flee the scene of their crime/achievement (depends on your perspective).
Bergs, I haven't been training since 2009 but I have finished 40+ full marathons and dropped from another dozen or so, for example, the Chicago Marathon half-way point coincides with my home almost perfectly and in recent years that's as far as I have bothered. Still undecided how far to take this one but it should be fun.
Good luck, drivers and busybodies.
Those are some impressive numbers. My mom has run a similar number of marathons and was the former race director for the Detroit Free Press Marathon so I probably know more about marathoning than I want to. Have you run the A2 before? I heard a lot of complaints about the course in its inaugural year. Not training for 4+ years and running a marathon seems risky (assuming you attempt to complete it). Good luck!

To the runners: Best of luck and have a great race!
To anyone that wants to whine about closed roads: Go suck eggs!

Depending on where you live, it may not be necessary to stay home—just be aware of the street closures, as detailed on the marathon's website. They seem to run no later than 2:30 pm. This MLive article includes a good map of the closed streets.
I've never attended a Spring Game, and I'll be there picking up my race packet, can you just get tickets at the door?
I think you must be running the Big House 5K, which is next week. This weekend is the Ann Arbor Marathon.
Packet pickup for the BH5K is at Crisler during the Spring Game. Unless things have changed you don't need tickets to go to the Spring Game. Just walk in and sit down.
I thought this thread was going to be about an auto parts store and/or gas station.
I'll be running the half marathon this year. They just sent out an email saying the Arb is now not part of the course since the trail is still covered in ice.
I like the route for the half this year. I don't think I would like the marathon though since you run it twice. That would seem to really ratchet up the mental fatigue. Please report back how it went!
