OT: authentic white basketball jerseys
I was actually going to buy my jerseys in the $120 authentic version.
But by the time the season rolled around in November, all they had was replica so I settled with those.
MDen said that the home white were only made available by Jordan in replica when I asked. They lost $135 from this guy because of it.
Something else that annoyed me was the #17 being the only option in white. #17 is an illegal number in college basketball, so no player will ever wear it unless they change the rules. My Blue and Maize jerseys are both #1s which will obviously be worn for years to come.
Your knowledge on this stuff is incredible.
Also, totally agree on being annoyed by the #17 thing. So if I want a white jersey, I hafta settle on a replica with a junk number. That's less than ideal...
This is the first time in my life I have seen "hafta" in a sentence.
Probably a typing error as the "f" is so close to the "v". Havta!
/your welcome
You can thank the NCAA'S reluctance to pass any money on to the players for the 17 fiasco.
an easy way to spread some around would be to sell jerseys with all numbers but players with that number get a small cut
They're not going to manufacture every jersey number. That's a waste of money for the apparel company.
You'd have a situation where the couple of guys on the team whose jerseys are for sale get their cut and no one else does.
You'd have the most popular players/numbers be for sale because those are the ones people would want to buy...others would be available for order as they are with pro sports.
I'm not saying it is perfect (what about players with same number?) but it is past time that the NCAA start passing on the mountains of money that they are making on the backs of the athletes.
I'm not saying there should be million dollar contracts to go to college...but why not look at revenue streams that could easily be funneled to the players?
Did you buy a pair of the shorts? I bought the replica white ones. The pictures don't really show a difference between replica and authentic for the blue or maize ones. Just curious. I would pay good money for a pair of legit shorts.
to the Livers thread?
But am thinking about returning it. I often wear basketball jerseys in the summer to the beach or concerts and the problem is, the chain stitching for the letters has no protective backing, which could lead to some Andy Bernard-like chafing issues. I will probably return it and get a replica blue jersey Also re: 17 - illegal number aside, it also represents the season (2017...)
