like this article came out three days ago. Sure, it was unoffial, but the Arkansas State players were already welcoming him to the team. So no, the AP didn't "break" any news, they just confirmed what was a forgone conclusion to most.

I don't know much about either I just always asume colleges with State in the name are worse then those without unless it says "tech" or "online/community" instead

Other than that there aren't really any, which makes sense considering how the system was pretty much set up with "State" schools as land grant schools. It's actually pretty crazy that a few are really in the same ball park
A few others that are at least in a relative ball park and still pretty good schools (so not looking at LSU and ~50 in many rankings of non-state university) include N. Carolina State and Penn St. You can probably throw MSU in if you want to stretch that a little bit (goes to show the power of the Big Ten in academics). PSU and MSU, both being Land Grant schools, have expanded quite well into institutions beyond their original intention.

in no way whatsoever is Arkansas state a better school than Auburn. auburn has been a top 50 public for like 20 years in a row and is 82 overall in USNWR.
