Where you got that number. Historically, there are higher rates of assault during a war. Statistics show that
23-28% of women service members, are sexually assaulted while in the military, and 11% are raped.

Pretty sad. These fucking idiots deserve to be completely blasted by their coaches, and anyone else that sees fit. I'm sure Gus will just let it slide since anything goes down there when you're a football player.

I was at the Gator Bowl when we played Mississippi State.  Other than how annoying the cowbells were, the Miss. State fans were very friendly, before, during, and, especially, after the game.

Things might be different at the traditional SEC powers, but I wouldn't tar all fans in the conference.

Eh, after some of the stories I heard while on campus, especially from girls, about football players' comments and general treatment towards them, I could see anything happening at any school.  And the schools themselves aren't without blame either.   You would think campus was your playground too if you received the same treatment... first pick of classes, special dorms, special cafeterias, special gyms, special academic treatment, special scholarships, etc... who wouldn't think that they were just so special.

Auburn fans are the MSU fans of the southeast. Haven't done a lot until recently and get real loud when they win in anything. They also hate Alabama more than they cheer for their own team.

At the end of the article the author gets into what he thinks an appropriate punishment would be, and his idea (wind sprints, public apology) revolved around the football team meting out most of the punishment. Shouldn't this be a university issue? As in, if this was a random student government type or fraternity brother, would those organizations be given the power to punish a student for this type of behavior, or would it fall to the university itself?

IMO they need to be referred to whatever campus disciplinary authority Auburn has and let their punishment be handled that way. Maybe banning them from certain buildings or common areas while this woman finishes her degree and whatever other standard probation there is for code of conduct offenders.

As a vet (not wounded), I wouldn't want them. Have them go to Eielson Air Force Base to train with the arctic survival SERE specialists for a while if you think they need a little taste of military culture. Had a couple friends flunk out of that school. Said it was the most miserable thing they've ever tried.

Auburn fans keeping it equally classy on 247:

"The female student clearly overreacted."

"She embarrassed herself and is looking for someone to place blame on."

"Maybe she is a bitch?"

"sounds like a publicity stunt to me"

"Don't act as though the word bitch is never uttered by 17-20 year olds every day."

"I'm sure the real story is somewhere in the middle. Was their behavior acceptable? No, but at the same time on the spectrum of bad things it's toward the not that bad side."

"They may have said the word bitch in any of a number of contexts."

"They may have said the word bitch in any of a number of contexts."

What does that even mean? "Oh he was using bitch as it was originally intended to be used in 18th century France to describe a strong, proud woman who served her country faithfully" wtf

The sheer magnitude of their disrespect for this woman and her service dog is stunning.  One can only wonder what possible enjoyment these two huge men got out making a disabled female veteran break down crying in public.

I would love to see their respective Wonderlic scores cause I'd lay big money that their two tests combined couldn't hit 25.  It would be nice God if you could arrange for these two idiots to get invited to the NFL combine so they have to take the test and their scores could be published so everyone could have the opportunity to mock them for their abject stupidity.

I'm sure they wouldnt mind it at all.

Being and asshole doesn't mean you're an idiot. I met plenty of UofM, highly intelligent, social responsible people during my 8 years in Ann Arbor, 6 years in undergrad and grad school, who were just huge dicks. Most of them were in programs or from families where they felt overly entitled, much like I imagine these two boys were.

That being said, if I was around when this event happened, I would have wanted to punch those two boys square in the mouth.

As a Vet, this saddens me deeply... teared up a bit. Unless you've walked in this vet's shoes, you have no idea what she's been through. I'd like to see these dirtbags do a tour.

Service dogs provide a vet with help that can't even be described. They play a huge and critical part in a vet's recovery. God Bless this vet and her dog.

I'd better stop now... I would end up saying something about Russel and Williams, that would get me banned.
