OT: Auburn Football Players Keeping it Real Classy
February 17th, 2015 at 11:46 PM ^
Have those two guys spend a day on a military base.
February 18th, 2015 at 2:21 AM ^
Seems like something foul happened to her at the military base to cause the PTSD in the first place... smh. Never heard of the "MST" term until this article...
February 18th, 2015 at 9:47 AM ^
Recommend that you further define 'military base' in your speculation. Came off to me initially that you were mindlessly speculating at rape. I don't think that was your intention.
February 18th, 2015 at 1:37 PM ^
I wasn't mindlessly speculating... read the article. It says she specifically suffers from MST... Military Sexual Trauma... where the hell else would she get that trauma from if not from the military or some military sanctioned place?
February 18th, 2015 at 1:41 PM ^
she was raped in the Army. Just like every other girl that joins.
Seriously, the sexual assault rate in the US Military is unbelievably high. More than 50% IIRC.
February 18th, 2015 at 4:02 PM ^
Where you got that number. Historically, there are higher rates of assault during a war. Statistics show that
23-28% of women service members, are sexually assaulted while in the military, and 11% are raped.
February 18th, 2015 at 4:07 PM ^
maybe from my ass, so I stand corrected. But the fact remains that a woman in the military is a helluva lot more likely to be raped or sexually assaulted than one in the general population.
February 18th, 2015 at 1:40 AM ^
Why punish the military? Send them to prison (I believe it is called Scared Straight) for a day.
February 17th, 2015 at 11:47 PM ^
Pretty sad. These fucking idiots deserve to be completely blasted by their coaches, and anyone else that sees fit. I'm sure Gus will just let it slide since anything goes down there when you're a football player.
February 17th, 2015 at 11:49 PM ^
I hope these two are publicly shamed until they're afraid to step out of their apartments.
February 18th, 2015 at 10:38 AM ^
unfortunatley, it will probably be the victim and her family who are afraid to step out of their apartments
February 17th, 2015 at 11:52 PM ^
Complete idiots. On a side note, I was at the outback bowl this January, Auburn fans are trash.
February 17th, 2015 at 11:54 PM ^
I shudder at the thought of SEC fans... they probably make MSU fans seem cordial.
February 18th, 2015 at 5:12 AM ^
I was at the Gator Bowl when we played Mississippi State. Other than how annoying the cowbells were, the Miss. State fans were very friendly, before, during, and, especially, after the game.
Things might be different at the traditional SEC powers, but I wouldn't tar all fans in the conference.
February 18th, 2015 at 8:39 AM ^
I had a similiar experience when I went to the Outback bowl the year we played South Carolina. Most of the fans that I met were polite
February 18th, 2015 at 8:50 AM ^
Alabama fans were nice when I was in Dallas a couple of years ago. But they have their hooligans.
February 18th, 2015 at 9:20 AM ^
Pretty easy to be nice when you're up by 40.
February 17th, 2015 at 11:53 PM ^
I don't know how you can do this unless you're Charles Mansonesque fucked up in the head.
February 18th, 2015 at 9:00 AM ^
What kind of person picks on a service dog and a crying woman? A gigantic asshole.
February 17th, 2015 at 11:54 PM ^
nothing will happen its the sec they will pay her to please be quiet. And tell the boys they are getting a few less in there check this week for being bad. Money money money. SEC Speed.
February 17th, 2015 at 11:56 PM ^
Pay her to be quiet? She already spoke.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:00 AM ^
I can see this story happening in. It makes for a good Jeopardy question.
This conference has had football players harass service dogs and military vets with PTSD. What is the SEC Alex!
February 18th, 2015 at 9:10 AM ^
Eh, after some of the stories I heard while on campus, especially from girls, about football players' comments and general treatment towards them, I could see anything happening at any school. And the schools themselves aren't without blame either. You would think campus was your playground too if you received the same treatment... first pick of classes, special dorms, special cafeterias, special gyms, special academic treatment, special scholarships, etc... who wouldn't think that they were just so special.
February 18th, 2015 at 8:22 AM ^
Say it with me now....
February 17th, 2015 at 11:55 PM ^
Auburn fans are the MSU fans of the southeast. Haven't done a lot until recently and get real loud when they win in anything. They also hate Alabama more than they cheer for their own team.
February 17th, 2015 at 11:59 PM ^
I hate people sometimes.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:02 AM ^
Just -- WOW!
February 18th, 2015 at 12:04 AM ^
At the end of the article the author gets into what he thinks an appropriate punishment would be, and his idea (wind sprints, public apology) revolved around the football team meting out most of the punishment. Shouldn't this be a university issue? As in, if this was a random student government type or fraternity brother, would those organizations be given the power to punish a student for this type of behavior, or would it fall to the university itself?
IMO they need to be referred to whatever campus disciplinary authority Auburn has and let their punishment be handled that way. Maybe banning them from certain buildings or common areas while this woman finishes her degree and whatever other standard probation there is for code of conduct offenders.
February 18th, 2015 at 1:06 AM ^
It is harassment/bullying, their actions, and would not be condoned at any workplace or learning environment. I would expect that Auburn has policy on that sort of thing for "safe school" or something similar.
Interesting to see if this actually gets applied.
February 18th, 2015 at 8:31 AM ^
The need to go spend the next ten weekends working with wounded veterans.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:51 PM ^
As a vet (not wounded), I wouldn't want them. Have them go to Eielson Air Force Base to train with the arctic survival SERE specialists for a while if you think they need a little taste of military culture. Had a couple friends flunk out of that school. Said it was the most miserable thing they've ever tried.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:28 AM ^
Auburn fans keeping it equally classy on 247:
"The female student clearly overreacted."
"She embarrassed herself and is looking for someone to place blame on."
"Maybe she is a bitch?"
"sounds like a publicity stunt to me"
"Don't act as though the word bitch is never uttered by 17-20 year olds every day."
"I'm sure the real story is somewhere in the middle. Was their behavior acceptable? No, but at the same time on the spectrum of bad things it's toward the not that bad side."
"They may have said the word bitch in any of a number of contexts."
February 18th, 2015 at 1:07 AM ^
Serves your nation.
Nice work Auburn fans.
Remind me not to move to Alabama.
February 18th, 2015 at 6:49 AM ^
"They may have said the word bitch in any of a number of contexts."
What does that even mean? "Oh he was using bitch as it was originally intended to be used in 18th century France to describe a strong, proud woman who served her country faithfully" wtf
February 18th, 2015 at 9:00 AM ^
"The real story is somewhere in the middle" = "I have a shitty opinion that I'm trying to fool you into agreeing with."
February 18th, 2015 at 9:18 AM ^
#95, Dontravious Russell isn't any better:

Apology? Nope. Deflection? Yup.
February 18th, 2015 at 9:30 AM ^
Chris Thomas' reply=awesome!
February 18th, 2015 at 1:40 PM ^
No surprise, it's gone now. What did he write?
February 19th, 2015 at 1:06 PM ^
The tweet was 3 pics of family members who were military and the statement of how he respects them. The response was something like, "That's like saying you're not a racist because you know black people. You're still a cunt."
February 18th, 2015 at 12:15 AM ^
The sheer magnitude of their disrespect for this woman and her service dog is stunning. One can only wonder what possible enjoyment these two huge men got out making a disabled female veteran break down crying in public.
I would love to see their respective Wonderlic scores cause I'd lay big money that their two tests combined couldn't hit 25. It would be nice God if you could arrange for these two idiots to get invited to the NFL combine so they have to take the test and their scores could be published so everyone could have the opportunity to mock them for their abject stupidity.
I'm sure they wouldnt mind it at all.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:15 AM ^
Yeesh. That's low in just about every sense of the word.
Those two ought to be afraid to even show themselves around campus after pulling a stunt like that.

Being and asshole doesn't mean you're an idiot. I met plenty of UofM, highly intelligent, social responsible people during my 8 years in Ann Arbor, 6 years in undergrad and grad school, who were just huge dicks. Most of them were in programs or from families where they felt overly entitled, much like I imagine these two boys were.
That being said, if I was around when this event happened, I would have wanted to punch those two boys square in the mouth.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:27 AM ^
"Being and asshole doesn't mean you're an idiot...."
No it doesnt. But in this case I would wager heavily they were both.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:37 AM ^
I definitely agree, but sometimes it is fun to think you are smart and make an argumentative statement.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:22 AM ^
Am I reading the player profiles correctly? It seems to say #95 is in pre-nursing.
February 18th, 2015 at 12:27 AM ^
Yes, he's still attached to his douche umbilical cord.
February 18th, 2015 at 1:05 AM ^
As a Vet, this saddens me deeply... teared up a bit. Unless you've walked in this vet's shoes, you have no idea what she's been through. I'd like to see these dirtbags do a tour.
Service dogs provide a vet with help that can't even be described. They play a huge and critical part in a vet's recovery. God Bless this vet and her dog.
I'd better stop now... I would end up saying something about Russel and Williams, that would get me banned.
February 18th, 2015 at 9:05 AM ^
Unless you're just itching to call them some kind of racial slur, what could you possibly say about them that would get you banned?
February 18th, 2015 at 8:54 PM ^
I didn't think it would be right by starting a new paragraph, with F*** Willams and Russell. That would've started a personal attack, and I didn't want to go further down that road.
February 18th, 2015 at 1:18 AM ^
Sounds like Auburn could really use a Team Mom as a positive influence.
Having the Bag Man try to do it is just not working.
