OT: Astros v. Tigers - May 5, 2013 - Verlander - No Hitter Through 5!!!

Submitted by Terminate Carr on

You guys might want to tune into this. Verlander is filthy!  Tigers up 8-0.   I'm not sure the Astros even want to get a hit today.

Dear "Terminate Carr:"

Far be it from me to resort to anatomical insults, but please put latex over yourself the next time you make a post like this...

I'm not a terribly suspicious person when it comes to sports, and I realize that any suspicions I might have have absolutely no impact on the outcome of anything at all, but dude. Come on.

Considering he's already at 86 pitches, there is no way Leyland is going to let him go for a no-hitter anyways.

as I am typing this a man reaches on an error...

lets say he is at 120 pitches going into the 8th and we are dominating handily do you send him out just to chase a perfect game or a no hitter?

I wouldn't.

anyone else care to chime in.

ps.  double play makes facing 27 batters possible again...

It's moot now, but a) I've never heard of a manager pulling a pitcher before he allows a hit, and b) JV could totally throw 150 pitches in a game. Maybe not any game, but in one to get a no hitter.

Thanks a lot, Terminate Carr. Irrational or not, baseball is a sport with many superstitions, a major one of which is to NEVER talk about a no hitter in progress. Therefore, I'm irrationally blaming you.

Edit: My wife, who knows very little about baseball and just started to watch it with me last season, even knew not to say anything today. Pretty much, she, in her novice fanhood, has infinitely better baseball fan ettiquette than you.
