You guys might want to tune into this. Verlander is filthy! Tigers up 8-0. I'm not sure the Astros even want to get a hit today.
spoiler alert: i linked this
you are gonna get sooooo negged,
Go take a long walk off a short dock!
I read that as, "short duck," and was desperately trying to make sense of it.
Also, go suck a bag of dicks OP. Unless that's your thing, in which case don't.
You idiot. You're not familiar with the unspoken rules of baseball are you?
I'm very familiar with the unspoken rules of baseball. What fun would this be if I wasn't?
Dear "Terminate Carr:"
Far be it from me to resort to anatomical insults, but please put latex over yourself the next time you make a post like this...
This doesn't even make any sense. Don't ever change.
There is no unwritten rule about fans talking about a no-hitter.
The only unwritten rule is that uniformed persons, i.e. coaches and teammates aren't supposed to mention it.
I'm not one into the jinx thing but this is way too early to get hyped about anyway. 5th inning? Come on! A lot of game left.
You're killin' me smalls! Come on!
Been loving how we have been playing ball the last ten days or so though.
plus it being against the astros means it doesnt really count
I'm not a terribly suspicious person when it comes to sports, and I realize that any suspicions I might have have absolutely no impact on the outcome of anything at all, but dude. Come on.
But are you superstitious?
Easy solution: If you're worried about it, don't go on the internet during a no-hitter.
Considering he's already at 86 pitches, there is no way Leyland is going to let him go for a no-hitter anyways.
as I am typing this a man reaches on an error...
lets say he is at 120 pitches going into the 8th and we are dominating handily do you send him out just to chase a perfect game or a no hitter?
anyone else care to chime in.
ps. double play makes facing 27 batters possible again...
No way. For him to get the no hitter, he's going to have to throw 140-150 pitches. Won't happen.
No manager is going to pull his pitcher when he's throwing a no no.
We're talking about Jim Leyland.
It's moot now, but a) I've never heard of a manager pulling a pitcher before he allows a hit, and b) JV could totally throw 150 pitches in a game. Maybe not any game, but in one to get a no hitter.
It's very, very rare.
He had 116 thru 7, and without those hits he would have thrown less. So he would have been 110 or so thru 7, and probably only needed 20-25 more without any hits. I've seen JV throw in the high 120s, so were they gonna pull him 2 outs shy? Doubt it.
So that says 3 since 2000? And one was a guy in his first game back from injury.
Edwin Jackson threw like 150 in his.
Leyland would have left JV in there, there is absolutely no doubt about that.
If he even stepped out of the dugout JV woulda whipped a fastball at him and broken his kneecap.
Terminate "Terminate Carr".
In which case, this thread could actually be an anti-jinx. Thanks!
YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID!
You just opened pandora's shitbox.
I don't like you
But man this is fun anyway.
You're. Fucking. Out
I blame you.
Well there you go, I'm totally negging you now.
You bastard I'm blaming you for this
Tip the cap to JV regardless
lol @ all of you.
Thanks a lot, Terminate Carr. Irrational or not, baseball is a sport with many superstitions, a major one of which is to NEVER talk about a no hitter in progress. Therefore, I'm irrationally blaming you.
Edit: My wife, who knows very little about baseball and just started to watch it with me last season, even knew not to say anything today. Pretty much, she, in her novice fanhood, has infinitely better baseball fan ettiquette than you.
Thanks for destroying the entire Tigers organization, you little wenis.
Terminate Terminate Carr.
You suck. Ya jackass
i am posting so I can reach 100 points, upon which, I will neg you.
99, and 100. negged.
A quite noble first act as a member of the 100+ point club.
I'm here to posbang the OP...
And you actually did it. GTFO.
Aww somebody needs a nap.
You're team won 9-ZERO having your pitcher throw 7 shutout, 2-hit innings. Grow The Fug Up.
Dude. The first AND second rules about Fight Club. YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB! Lesson learned at this point, I expect, lol
As for the home runs - Fielder, Pena, Dirks and now Infante gets in on the long ball action. This team is so much fun to watch.
As for the circumstances under which this thread arose, this will now be the Tigers - Astros Open Thread. The line on Verlander is still great - 7 innings so far, 9 K's, 2 BBs and 2 hits.
This is a board of sports fans. Someone has to start a thread like this...
And totally redeem himself!
The guy im playing in fantasy baseball has Verlander pitching. So thank you OP for the jinx.
You'd think I spoiled the olympics or something...
If this topic had not been made, Verlander would've thrown a no-hitter. Maybe multiple no-hitters in a row. Shame on you
....who is responsible for Ryan Lochte. I knew it!
You...you.....son of a....
TerminateCarr killed 5 hookers and 1 no-no in his moms basement
A no hitter against us would have an asterisk in the record books anyways. We're a AAA club, and a bad one.
Had to login to downvote and to say you suck!
Dude, sincerely, if you hadn't made this post, the Tigers would have lost the game. You saved the game singlepostedly!!!!!
"Terminate Carr"? What exactly do you want him terminated from?
Obvious troll is obvious.
I'm just surprised 3 people upvoted this post.
Terminate Carr? More like Terminate Karma!
But, I still want to fight you for being such a bad sports fan.
Impressive. Top 5 most negged thread?
I was at the game yesterday here in Houston with some other tigers fans. A friend from Michigan was sitting with us, and she was oblivious to what was happening. JV is pitching in the 7th and she says "well, I think I know the outcome of this one, I'm going to get going." I stare at her blankly, fighting the urge to break the unwritten rule and say "dumbass, there's a no-hitter going on." The moment she stands up and starts walking towards the aisle, JV gives up the hit that ruins the no-no.
My dilemma: should I tell her how fucking retarded she is, or just never speak to her again?
