OT: Anyone watching Red Wings & Stars on NHL network?

For the last two Wings games that NHL network has broadcast, I can only see half of the scoreboard on their graphics.  They are showing the FSN Detroit feed, but apparently apply their own graphics and I can't see any of the Dallas side of the scoreboard.

Anybody else getting this?  I've got a 37" TV, just how wide does my TV have to be to see the full score?

Good ol' NHL, always doing everything they can to lose fans.

no "fill screen" capabilities.

I guess my point is that I'm watching the "non-HD" channel of NHL network, but they are pushing only the HD feed to both their channels, so I don't see everything.

I'm a professional web developer, for the most part I need to still code down to IE6 standards when I work for corporations today.

So, with that in mind, NHL network (who is dying for any audience they can get) is only pushing HD technology so that much of their audience will not be able to see their HD-based graphic positioning?  Is that a good decision, or are they killing themselves?

I don't think it's a matter of what they are "pushing", but rather the fact that FSN now only broadcasts in widscreen and NHL Network's SD format is still the old format.  Putting those two things together makes for a bad result.

I don't have HD, I assume that is why this is happening, but they have both a normal and HD channel on my cable.  Why would they push only the HD feed, and why would they not know that half of their viewers wouldn't be able to see <Graphic force left of wide HD screen/ ???

The reason that your picture is fucked up is Fox Sports's fault.  They have decided that they are no longer going to broadcast standard definition games in 4:3. They simply take the 16:9 HD broadcast and show it in shitty low res letterbox format. The NHL network is taking their feed and cropping off the sides.  I don't understand why they are doing this, since there are still tons of people who watch games on standard definition TVs and it cannot possibly be cost prohibitive to take an HD picture and refit it to 4:3.

No, the switched over at the All Star break.  If you have an SD TV, I''d be surprised if you hadn't noticed (and disliked it) by now.  Hockey is a lot harder to watch now on a non-HD TV, unless you have a big TV.  If you are trying to watch a game on a typical TV that you find at the gym or at Applebees, you can hardly see the puck.

Awful?

Miserable?

There's not a whole lot of jump by anyone. The power play is slow and disorganized. I'm surprised the penalty kill has been as good as it has been tonight.

Living in Columbus, I watch them any chance I get, but I'm starting to believe I shouldn't watch them anymore. Just about any time I have the opportunity to watch them on tv, they lose.

Aargh
