OT: Anyone ever dated the enemy?

Submitted by VictorsValiant09 on
I know it's extremely personal, so feel free to respond however you wish. Has anyone ever dated a Spartan, Irish, or god forbid...a Buckeye? Following up, how did that affect the sporting side of things for you? I was listening to the game today, and this struck me as something the rest of the community might want to chime in on. I dated a Spartan for a few months in 2007; she's still at MSU. My hatred for that school didn't lead to the breakup or anything, but I REALLY despised driving to EL to see her with Michigan stickers plastered all over my car. Not a fun experience in enemy territory.

Dated a girl from OSU and a few from MSU. Sporting side was no big deal. Mind you the OSU girl was during Cooper's tenure. When they lost, which they usually did, I'd talk shit and we had make up sex the next day.

Going to UM games and cheering for my beloved Wolverines in my family is a family event. I live in AR and my wife is from AR so she never cared the least little bit for UM when we met but I was able to convert her over to the good side. I think that if my wife were a Buckeye fan or even a Sparty fan I would have a problem with it. I guess if it was a girlfriend thing though where there was no real bonds or ties (except for sex in the closet at work) I think it may be fun.

My sophomore year. She was hot, but psychotic and the trips to EL from AA got old real fast. Ultimately it only lasted a few weeks. This was years ago, but she still calls me or texts me when MSU beats Michigan at anything (I'm talking baseball, women's soccer, anything). I need to change my number.

I've been dating my current girlfriend for the last three years, dating back to her sophomore year at State. It makes it easier when the girl isn't a big sports fan though.

and it sucked for about fifteen minutes watching the game. She's a huge sports fan but thankfully sees a lot more wrong with her team than right with the win. The toughest part was just being on campus for the weekend and taking shit from everyone ELSE I saw. We got in a lot more fights stemming from things like Glen Winston's continued existence and the Conboy/Tropp assassinations last year.

back to michigan i dated a girl that was from ohio and is a HUGE OSU fan. she wasn't all that bad, we took playful shots at each other but nothing more that that. but i did open her eyes to the fact that tressel is a dirty coach. other than that she was really good at "other" things.

I've dated a girl whose father went to Notre Dame and, most notably, I am married to a girl whose father went to MSU. Girls, for the most part, are the ultimate bandwagon fans, so it doesn't matter where their allegiance is. However, it gets interesting for family get togethers. I got the ultimate ace in the hole though. Just give them the "but I'm banging your daughter" smirk.

of course I live in ohio so its not that shocking. She even went with me to the IU game last weekend. She hates Michigan but she doesnt talk shit and in fact hates most buckeye fans because of the way they act.

I dated a guy who was born in South Bend and grew up a huge ND fan. His family moved to Michigan before he was in high school though, so he ended up going to UM and is now a Michigan fan, but his parents are still ND fans. They were always really nice and I didn't think much of it until I saw the "Play like a Champion Today" sign hanging above the basement stairs... constant reminder. He also had some Notre Dame stuff in his room... unsettling but not a deal breaker.

When I was 16, I had a fake ID and used to go into East Lansing to MSU bars/clubs with my friends all the time (grew up in Okemos). My parents met at UM (and are fanatics) and my older sister was going there and I would be on my way there in a few years and was already a huge M fan having gone to Ann Arbor for games since I could walk. One night at B'Zar (club back then) I actually hooked up with an MSU girl (we always tried, but never really thought it would happen) and I ended up dating her for about 6 weeks. She was a Spartan Aide (hot girls they pick to show recruits around campus and hang out at recruiting functions) and actually pretty hot, not bleach blonde SpartyGirl 'hot'. I was able to manage the charade that I was an MSU student for that long and it was a VERY nice set of weeks for a 16 year old guy used to high school girls. She was extremely talented and kind of 'out there', even for a college girl. Taught me a lot. I was sleeping over there 3 times per week and telling my Mom that I had just crashed at a friend's house after studying late (which wasn't that uncommon). By the end of 6 weeks this line was wearing thin as an excuse and making my Mom very suspicious. It all came to a crashing halt one day when my Mom busted me with her. I worked in my Mom's store on campus (Crossroads back then, on Abbott near Grand River) after school a few days per week and Melissa had dropped by to see me covered in her Sparty gear. Usually when I was there my Mom wouldn't be around or would be back in the office doing the books, but on this day she was upstairs near the front of the store. Melissa comes in with a big gift box for me and tells me to open it. I break into a cold sweat because I can see my Mom watching what is going on. I open it and it is a nice green sweater from Jacobsen's and before I can get us out of there, she is behind the counter and straddling me on the stool I was sitting on and proceeds to give me the kind of kiss you would never want your Mom to see you get...deep tongue and a full-on grind. I look back during this and lock eyes with my Mom who is giving me a look as if to say WTF? I know I am cold busted. After Melissa leaves, my Mom comes over, looks at me for a long time with a surprised expression and says, "Who the hell was that?" I answer, with an extremely red face, "That's Melissa......she.......uhm...she uhm.....goes to East Lansing.' My Mom just says, "Bullshit. I'll expect you home on time from now on." I had to break it off pretty soon after that, but for a while I was kind of a Sparty fan myself. I always had to pretend to be a Sparty fan when I was with her, so perhaps technically I wasn't dating the enemy out in the open, but thank God it wasn't during football season or it would have been a lot harder.

OMG what a weird coincidence, in the 3rd grade I used to go to Skeepers with my brahs and we always tried to hookup with the college girls. well, one day it happened, and she was smoking hot, dude. we never thought it would happen but we always tried. i mean, whoa. being a huge MIICH fan and my parents being MIIICH fans (fanatics) it was easy to trick her cuz i knew all about MIIICH and what it means. well, what a 6 weeks it was with me being so used to 3rd grade ass. she was really a... nasty freak. She just loved to... get down with... sex all the time. It was like... anytime of day... she was like, "Yeah, let's go! I'm so nasty!" And I'd be nailing her and she'd be like, "Oh, you're nailing me! cool!" but, alas I had to go summer camp and it ended.

Perhaps you can turn off your little hose of sarcasm and go back and read the question asked on the subject line for the OP again? Perhaps for the first time? Oh no, negative points! Whatever will I do?

when it comes to sarcasm hoses ;) I ordered 'that little capsule' for mine and it has worked wonders. It is great, that such a little capsule can do such an amazing thing. I wasn't worried about size, but I was curious about enhanced performance. Who doesn't want to perform better? (sidenote: really hoping that the Enzyte ads run nationally and not just here in Cali, because otherwise this will make zero sense and probably seem somewhat creepy)

Oh brother, you're one of 'those'. I told a story from high school about dating an MSU girl. Wasn't that the topic and question of the OP? Creepy how? Please, neg me some more and tell me why, oh wise and worldly one from the middle of Wyoming. I echo the sentiments of many others on this board that have real lives outside of the MGoForum and lower point totals as a result. There would seem to be a direct correlation between the amount of time spent here and the resulting point total with the level of self-importance of some particular posters. You would be a fine example of that.

I've only fooled around with two Sparties but one of them was a fan because her ex-bf was. I know a cute buckeye fan but her fanhood is a bit repulsive, plus she isn't your stereotypical buck fan due to the fact that she's pretty well off and educated.

I dated a Sparty, she was really hot but it was during the 2005 football season and every weekend she visited me or I planned to visit her in EL, we lost. Without exception. I apologize to everybody.

Seeing as how I went to school in Ohio (not at OSU though!) it is rather inevitable that I have dated a few Buckeye girls. Only one of them was a huge OSU fan, but we mainly just teased each other about it. The girl I'm with now is from Cleveland but only hates Michigan because it takes up my time.

Misopogal is a sparty from family connections (she went to emu but roots for the spartans). She's not like a huge fan, so aside from me being kind of annoyed when she's got a state shirt on, it's not much of an issue. Likewise, I'm not a fan of the colors her bridesmaids will be wearing, and my feelings have been duly noted, but my feelings are seldom much discussed.

CPSpouse is a Spartina. On Friday we had our fifth anniversary. On Saturday we watched the UM-MSU game. She annoyed me with her cheering, I annoyed her with my cheering, and CPSbabby told us both to shut up. That's pretty much how it goes.

I know, you would naturally think that it is, but that goes to show just how many, and loyal the fans are to Michigan. My family and it is a Big One has about 50/50 for Michigan and State. My niece just married a Buckeye and she is a Michigan Grad and fan, her Dad is a State Fan. Makes game day interesting !!! GO BLUE..!!!!

Dated a Spartan technically before she was a Spartan. Buttt, judging by how she acted then, I should have known she'd be primed to become one.

Dated a Buckeye in college (in Boston). We had just won the 100th Game so I had all the bragging rights. This was right when that ad came out with the UM/OSU couple making out. We lasted about three weeks, I just wasn't that interested in her when we got to know each other. Soon after I broke up with her (like the next week) she started dating a guy she's now married to, so I am glad (I guess) that things worked out for her.
