I've been living here for a couple of years. There is actually an alumni group here, partly because the UM b-school is fairly popular. I don't think they're particularly active, but I have been to an alumni reception with about 200 people a couple of years ago. S'pore is a great place to live. If you want to meet up and grab a Tiger, let me know, and maybe we can set something up.

Shanghai has it's fair share of UM alums.  So does Beijing.  Michigan keeps Jointly-held campuses with Peking University in Beijing and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai.   Little known fact, that accounts for UM's overreaching presence in East Asia.

It kind of sucks that people only know about the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses.

Live in Korea, just across the pond more or less.  Or more.

For what it's worth, some years ago I was arrested and detained in the Bangkok ariport on my way to Singapore ~ for "transporting human cargo."

At the time I didn't even know what that meant.  I was released a day later and given first class to Singapore.  Didn't exactly make up for it all, but in hindsight it was a fairly interesting experience.    But if it were true, I would have been transporting UM fanatics and created a little community for you to watch the games with.  Unfortunately for you, I was innocent.

Woo Korea! You've been here a while, eh?

Is Singapore that great to live in? All I heard from some of the people I know who have gone talked about how many laws and rules there are. Seems like it'd be nice to visit, and people living there probably have a different perspective, but that put me off. And transporting human cargo is illegal? That's some real BS.

Are the airline, railroad and busing industries aware that transporting human cargo is illegal?

Never lived in Singapore - just visited.  I have friends there now who are quite happy.  For me, I'd much rather go to Malaysia or especially Indonesia.

As for the human cargo... yeah, like I said, I just acted dumb b/c in fact I had no idea what the hell they were talking about.  Something about my passport have a wrinkle above my photo made them think I was somehow ... I still don't know, something about illegally bringing people into the country.  With my wrinkled photo passport?  That human cargo couldn't fit behind my passport photo, I'm pretty sure.

My Sister in Law lives in Singapore but isn't likely to hang out watching sports.  She is an early 80's M grad that unfortunately sent her kids to Penn State and Villanova :-)

singapore sends a lot of students to Michigan. There are usually around 150-200 Singaporeans enrolled. The alumni club in Singapore is pretty big and quite active. There are screenings for all the games downtown. That's where I watched the Nebraska and OSU games (while watching the live chat on this blog). It was a good time.
