OT: Anquan Boldin traded to 49ers

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000149401/article/report-anquan-bo… ESPN has confirmed the sources that Anquan Boldin has been traded to the 49ers. With the ravens wanting salary cap relief, they wanted Anquan Boldin to take a 2 million dollar deduction, which Boldin refused, wanting to play for his original contract. Wow....49ers are stacked and they only had to give up a 6th round pick

How do you think its not a crazy deal?  Its a 6th round pick (which is basically nothing) for a proven commodity.  The guy was lights out in the playoffs too.  And always hurt?  He's missed four games in four years.  That's pretty damn healthy for the NFL.

I believe Antonio Brown of the Steelers was a 6th round pick.  You can always find a treasure late.  Since it's only one more year, I guess it isn't awful for them.  But San Fran's cap situation wih this move, even though they unloaded Smith, isn't favorable, especially when they have a lot of young guys that will be looking for pay raises sooner rather than later.

This move tells me they know that a lot of their guys won't be around much longer, and this is their big push to win one next year.

Boldin had 6 receptions for 104 in the Super Bowl; I would not consider him overpaid in the least.  I hope he does the same for the 49ers next year.

Most of all, though, I congratulate him for sticking to his guns on his contract.  I'm shocked that they traded him to a potential Super Bowl team instead of burying him somewhere like Cincinnati.

The kind of deal he gets might influence how long the 49ers keep Manningham (next year will be the last of his current contract). As a Brady/ Patriots fan however, I welcome the move of a pretty important piece of the Ravens team moving to the NFC.

Boldin's career in Baltimore was pretty underwhelming, aside from the Ravens' most recent playoff run. Still a pretty good deal for the 49ers.

Without Boldin, the Ravens don't make it past the Patriots.

Rings on finger, parade down Pratt St.  Successful stay in Charm City.

The Niners are giving up very little for a solid veteran WR who runs routes, and blocks.  They have enough speed when Manningham comes back healthy, Crabtree, and V.Davis.

I like this actually, lights even more of a fire under the front office to pick up a big boy. Get Mike Wallace, Stevie Breaston, some meh dude, and draft Denard (Havin's skill without Harvin's prissy personality) and AD will forget about that stomach ache. Seems like a hellova wish list but they can afford it all now.

as much as the next man- but C'MON MAN - to say that has Harvin's skill is absurd. I will be rooting for Denard to have a long and successful career - but as a receiver, scat-back, returner there is no way to honestly say he brings what Harvin does to the table.

is one of the best in the league. He put together a collection of great talents that he can afford to give up draft picks for Harvin.  He drafted Russell Okung (pro bowl LT), Max Unger (pro bowl C), Russell Wilson (3rd round), Bobby Wagner (2nd round), Richard Sherman (2nd best CB in the league and was drafted at 5th round), Earl Thomas (pro bowl S), Kam Chancellor (pro bowl S), and KJ Wright (3rd round).  He brought in players who were either disgruntled or underperformed or never had a good start in their career to the team and they thrived for the Seahawks.  Marshawn Lynch and Brandon Browner comes to mind.

He made a ton of great moves that the Seahawks are loaded that they can afford to give up mulitple draft picks for a dynamic WR in Harvin.  Harvin was playing at Pro Bowl level before he got hurt last year.  He is a great fit for the Seahawks, schematically wise.

Niners also grabed the first pick of the second round for Alex Smith which is a hell of a get too. Also, they have Chiefs 2nd round for 2014.

Smells fishy to me

A proven stud WR that blocks his ass off and runs up the middle like no other for a 6th rounder!

"Here ya go Jimmy, this makes up for us beating u in the Super Bowl"

Boldin wasn't going to restructure his contract, so every team knew they had to cut him. A 6th round pick when Ravens have zero leverage is not bad.

Boldin is a reliable near 1,000 yard reciever.  Strong get for the Niners.  It could only happen with a team that had cap space to burn, and compared to the free agent market for WR's it's a nice score.  The only arguably better WR's on the market would be Welker, Jennings and Wallace.

Besides, you have to give Boldin some love since he's from Pahokee.

I am staking my fantasy football legacy on the fact that crabtree will be the wideout to have next year...  Boldin is the perfect compliment along with Davis.

This S. F.   team is gonna be good, and I don't think they will buckle under the expectations.

So, doesn't this mean that he's going to retire tomorrow?

Baltimore is the only place I want to play. It's the last place that I will play. For me, I'll retire a Raven, I'm not putting on any other uniform. "I won't play in another uniform. We have a saying, once a Raven, always a Raven, and I'll always be a Raven."
