OT Ann Arbor breakfast joints

Submitted by 2Blue4You on

Slow day for the CC so we need something to keep our minds off the obvious until the 28th.

I went to breakfast yesterday at an AA diner and it was solid as are most all diner/greasy spoon type places that offer breakfast all day, but not over the top, plan my Saturday/Sunday morning around.  I know the typical Angelo's, Weber's Brunch, Northside, and Fleetwood offer solid slightly different takes on the breakfast and are pretty awesome in their own right.

My question to the board is what weekend breakfast options to you HIGHLY recommend for takeout?  I usually get up first in my house and want to grab coffee and bring home something amazing b/c Ann Arbor is a foodie paradise.  My only current go to is Washtenaw Dairy donuts.

What  peaked this was my brother lives in AZ and we get breakfast burritos every breakfast we are out there and bring them home.  The perfect balance of potatoes, eggs, cheese, meat of choice and red/green sauce.  Nothing I have had here has been on that same level.  Thanks.

Just off S State down near the airport. It's not as good as some of the other places on the list that are closer to downtown, but if you're in the Briarwood area, it's one of the better ones.

I always eat there when I have a job at a south side printer. The chili cheese omelet is greasily outstanding, and the coffee ain't bad to boot.

Plus the waitresses always call me "Hon."

Agree. This isn't the best breakfast place by any stretch, but for whatever reason if I'm craving breakfast food and have nobody to go out with, it's the only place I'm usually willing to eat at solo. You can walk in and out in about 15 minutes, with a big stomach full of breakfast food. The waitresses can be a bit on the trashy side, but that's to be expected in a diner type of place.

On Washington - but it's a fancier, sit down breakfast place.

The answers are obviously Angelo's for amazing bread/etc. and Benny's for huge $4 omlettes

My wife loves Zola, so we go there often. I usually go with the Salmon Hash or Frittata Zola.

They also opened a second location on Wshtenaw at Arbor Crossing. Same menu, less wait during Brunch time. We like going there now instead since we have a baby and there's more room.

Zingermann's Roadhouse has deservedly not been mentioned--I think it's overrated, even though I'm a huge fan for dinner.

However, Roadhouse doughnuts are fricken' fantastic!

dimos on stadium is amazing.  great selection of donuts, bagels, and breakfast sammies. used to stop here on my way down stadium to pioneer every day once i was able to drive myself to school.  5d everything bagel cant go wrong

marks midtown coney island on state or plymouth is good for cheap plates and meals to go.  omletes, bacon, eggs, simple stuff like that.

zingermans bagels, schmear, lox.  basic, but the quality of the ingredients is bangin.

bagel factory.. ah fuck... cant believe its not there anymore.  so make it to any place that now sells fragels.  bring home a dozen fragels and youll be the hero for a year.

Beezy's in Ypsilanti is awesome. Great coffee, cool atmosphere, and really good food. Crispy bacon, breakfast potatoes with a bit of spice, light and fluffy eggs, and good homemade breads if you want that, too.

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet at last, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?"

"What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?"

"I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.”

I haven't been in a couple years, but as a former North Campus resident I enjoyed Cafe Marie, near Plymouth and Murfin.  Not sure if they do takeout, though.

Overlooking the horrid term "foodie" I don't know that you can call AA a food destination. Maybe in Michigan. But I guess if a breakfast burrito is the dish of choice you're standards aren't too tough to match

You could be little less offensive but I have to agree with you that A2 is the closest thing to a food destination in Michigan as it gets. I hear people rave about the food and choices here but I personally think a lot of places are overrated and overpriced...except Mani's pistachio pizza...best pizza I have ever had(I know, its not breakfast but I would want it for breakfast if the place opened up before 4pm on the weekends).

Took awhile for someone to mention Angelo's.  I haven't been to town in two years, so I got worried it had closed.  I lived on Glen/Fuller one year in the late 80's.  You had to wait in line and watch people eat through the windows.
