OT: Angel Pagan (NY Mets) has the Best Game Ever
Angel Pagan, CF on the New York Mets, hit an inside-the-park homerun and was the primary fielder responsible for a triple play last night against the Nationals.
The Nationals won the game 5-3.
Also, the title is not meant to be taken literally.
When I read about that, I figured that had to be the first time that ever happened. Amazingly, no. Baseball (and Elias) is awesome like that.
Who else has done that?
And not since Ted Kazanski of the Phillies did it in '55 had a player hit an inside-the-parker and helped turn a triple play in the same ballgame.Wait, Ted Kazanski? Could he be the dad of Tom "Iceman" Kazanski from "Top Gun"?

He certainly has a great NAME as well.....
Although I personally like Rick Wise's 2 homer-No hitter game.
How about Mickey Lolich, Game 2 of the 1968 World Series.
On the road in Busch Stadium St. Louis. Lolich starts for Detroit, pitches a complete game, allows 1 run on 6 hits with 9 strikeouts. Detroit wins (they'd otherwise have lost the Series, no doubt)... And best of all, Lolich hit a home run, which turned out to be the game-winning run.
Nevertheless, I will do so. From my post:
Also, the title is not meant to be taken literally.
I wasn't arguing, or denouncing your OP. I like baseball oddities. I like your post. But what else can anybody say about Angel Pagan after about two posts? The .281 lifetime (2 yrs.) hitter for the Cubs-Mets-Cubs-Mets?
his parents are sadists. talk about giving your kid an identity crisis.
triple plays, home base, craigslist
Jack Morris scoffs at Lolich's NINE inning playoff shutout. Real men go ten.
she said. ZING!
I'm a Mets fan, and that was a great performance. I'm a huge fan of Angel Pagan. I know Carlos Beltran is an all star, but Pagan belongs in the lineup. If Beltran ever recovers from that surgery, I'm curious to see how Manuel plays it. If Bay can't step it up, he might be riding pine.
I'd imagine they'd sit Francouer way before they'd sit Bay.
You may be right (offensively) but I like Francouer in RF. Perhaps that is where Angel would have to go if/when Beltran gets back.
Actually, there's a chance that when Beltran comes back, he'll have to go to right because his knee won't take the rigors in center. That would clearly mean Francoeur's the odd man out.
if he were a little more intuned with what was happening. I was at the game and he was probably only two or three strides from second when he caught the ball. With the original runner (Livan Hernandez) on second already around third and the original runner(Nyjer Morgan) on first, standing confused on second, all Pagan needed to do was jog to second, step on the bag, and tag Morgan for an unassisted triple play. And, that my friends, would have been a first: there've been about a dozen unassisted triple plays, but never one by an outfielder.
I'd be willing to bet he would trade in both the triple play and the inside-the-park HR for a win.
