OT: And so the unsportsmanlike conduct BS begins...

Submitted by MCalibur on

Anyone catch that unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Marshall player who sacked Pryor a few minutes ago? Unbeleivable. Guy makes a play, gets up and celebrates a little, away from the player he made the play against, boom flagged,15 yards. Ridiculous.

Basically, this celebration by Graham is now considered unsportsmanlike conduct. Bullshit.

If they flag that they should flag CBs for getting in the face of the WR everytime the QB overthrows and the CB just happens to be within 5 yards of the play.

I could do without that.

It's only a penalty if it's against a Pryor or a Tebow.  But not if Tebow does his warhoop, champion of the world celebration after an 8-yard run.

You're basically right. I'm watching the Utah game and the Ute defensive lineman celebrated a sack, quite obviously I might add, with no flag. I'm glad he didn't get flagged, but college football can be retarded when it comes to celebrations.

1.  i thought it was a little excessive (particularly when you're down 2 touchdowns).

2.  i'm not sure that the flag was for the celebration...the refs called it on #18.  the sack was by #99.  i could certainly be wrong, however.

Number 18 (a DB) was literally 30 yards away from the play. The ref was looking straight at 99 when he pulled the flag. Calling the wrong number is just one gaffe on top of another.

Maybe the celebration was in poor taste, if you say so, but that ain't unsportsmanlike conduct friend. I can't argue with your opinion on something that is 100% subjective. However, the rule says nothing about how close the game should be when you're celebrating.

... about Marshall or OSU, or anything in that state (except the guy with the Michigan plate who has excess club level seats, I care about him) but thanks for posting that play.  That made me happy.

It's like Adam Carolla's new book title:  "In Fifty Years, We'll all be Chicks"

What do they expect them to do, make a savage hit on somebody and sit down to drink tea?

I fail to see what's so wrong with celebrating a big play.

Listen, you can't hit a 2-time Heisman trophy winner like Pryor...wait, wait he HASN'T won the past two Heismans?  But based on the preseason buzz and his "dismantling" of Oregon in the Rose Bowl, I just presumed that he was the greatest college player of all time and thus should be treated differently.  Huh.  And what is this game with all the guys tackling each other called?  Football!  Man, this televsion really does play tricks on people.
